Speaking as a former sheriff's deputy this "officer" ignored basic police protocols, wait for backup, instead of just shooting. In this time and age. Now she probably has 5 years to think about it. Opinions?

I'm not too sure, on the surface it sounds like the typical manslaughter conviction. After her conviction the team of lawyers representing the dead man's family spoke of Martin so I wonder if the jury was poisoned by political rhetoric.

You can't try a defendant on a separate case no matter how notorious the verdict was, keep it in mind I never followed the case closely, this case wasn't the media circus the Zimmerman case was.

I didn't follow the case closely either. However, once I heard the verdict was guilty, and then the sentence of ten years I was compelled to check, and yep, confirmed a 70 percent majority Black jury and a Black female Judge who looks downright scary. The Policewoman never had a chance at a fair trial in Dallas under those conditions. Police in Dallas are hated by Blacks as if we don't remember what happened after five of them were mowed down after a Black Lives Matter event a couple of years ago and Blacks were literally dancing jigs in the street while the dead cops bodies were still warm.

And this is one more example of why females do not belong in male roles/combat roles/protective public roles. But nowadays people don't even know which bathroom to go to. We are very screwed up by the screwers...

I seriously doubt she'll make it out alive. She's White, she killed an unarmed Black, she's a cop. She's in prison as of yesterday. She's likely done.

She will be in segregation with informants, the bullied, law enforcement, etc. She should be fine, it's not like she killed a gang member who could have an assassin pretend to be one of these groups to kill her in segregation.

Instead of clearing her mind and seeking to sleep as soon as possible, the 30-something white woman was sending lewd, pornographic texts to her ugly, much older (and married) Mexican boyfriend/fellow officer, claiming she couldn't wait to have sex with him. She was sending these texts minutes before shooting the innocent man.

I guess having one less trigger-happy, Affirmative Action hire (female cop) off the streets is a good thing for the fine people of Texas?

Wow, I didn't know about that. I basically heard very little. I think all of us agree women don't belong in protective police service/combat roles. This is why traditionally small men and the average woman couldn't get hired before affirmative action took hold in mid 70's.

Traditionally you wanted a cop that was the beefy Irishman stereotype like Russell Crowe in LA Confidential because police work was dirty physical work. The average woman is too weak to use anything but lethal force against a typical male, similarly small racial ethnic groups for males have the same problem. I remember seeing an scene from the show the Commish where the main character tried to pass the police exam and he pulled a Kyler Murray and got up in the morning and rushed to get his physical before he shrank and he passed the minimum height requirement at 5'8" with lifts in his shoes.

I have no problem with females that are built like various famous athletes doing the job but if you did this only 1 or 2 percent of the police force would be females.
