Culpepper -- who became expendable once the Dolphins made a trade six weeks ago with Kansas City for Trent Green, who'll be Miami's starter entering this season -- said he got word from his attorneys about the release on Monday night.

"As I was going through this process I heard about a quote by Gandhi that best expresses my thoughts about this victory: 'First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win,"' Culpepper, who serves as his own agent, said in an e-mail. "Now that I have won my freedom and I get to choose my next team, I am just like many other people who have to go out and find employment so that I can take care of my family."

And his use of the quote, like Ghandi, makes me lose my appetite.

I find it nausiating how ungrateful he is. He originally filed a greivence over this with the player association? He was given a huge 55 million dollar contract even though he had had a bad injury. I'm sure he was guaranteed at least a quarter of it in signing bonuses. It's the Dolphins who should be angry about the money they had to expend for a bad signing.

Now he'll probably make a Steve McNair or Ray Lewis case about it "the discrimination against the black quarterback." People are so misinformed about this issue. Blacks are overrepresnented at QB they are roughly 13% of the U.S poplulation but over 20% of NFL QB's.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

After reading this (not to mention quoting Ghandi) All I could say was "oh puhleeeeease" In his 4 games with the Dolphins he completely stunk up the joint. The reason he was cut was due to the fact that Cam Cameron wants a 'read-and-react' QB which Daunte Fumblepepper is not. He has neither football smarts nor real life smarts for that matter (He went to UCF because he didn't meet the academic requirements of the bigger schools) This is not the guy Cam Cameron wants running his offense and he needs to step off his high horse and realise that

Lance Alworth you got the read and react quarterback from me, but it still was a good point. The quarterback needs to be the general on the football feild read the enemy postions then make the appropriate decision to place the ball to the receiver who can do the most damage. Black quarterbacks take a step back try to read the defense then start running to try and salvage the play. Most don't have the guts to stand in the pocket with live bullets flying, and make the right decision or an accurate throw to the open receiver. This my freinds is true, but the problem is no one out side of this site is willing to admit that whites make better quarterbacks end of story period. Cameron knows this and for that reason Green is in and Culpepper is fired.

White Power I think there are a lot of fans that still think whites are better QB's. I have a couple friends who are typical sports fans who fawn over black athleticism but surprisingly both think that whites are usually better QB's. I think it is really the media which is dying to see another black QB win the superbowl.

I am one of the few on this site who thinks that there have been black QBs recently other than McNabb that have had periods of good play. Other than McNabb though none of the black QBs currently in the league are better than middle of the pack, with the exception of McNair in his prime. And when Culpepper had those two good years he had Moss. I also think that Jamarcus Russell could end up being pretty good but will never reach the level of the elite white QB's like Peyton Manning.

There is one thing that I am in entire agreement with this site and that is that Black QB's get significantly more time before they are benched.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Oh and I almost forgot about Vince Young. Every ESPN annalist has already heralded him as the next Peyton Manning after less than one season as a starter and a few come from behind wins. They acted as if he won Tennessee the Super Bowl. Yeah a 66.7 QB rating in your first season really proves a lot

I recall sports journalists writing how Vince Young had proved he was not only a scrambler but a passer late in the season because he posted 3 games with above a 65% completion percentage...wow talk about jumping the gun. Power you're pretty right. You can see it right from highschool, every college coach are dreaming about making those black QB better passers, but, I'll take vince young as an exemple, they can't handle a pro-style playbook, so coaches, who always needs to win now, have to mutate their playbooks to add option plays, ton of roll-out so they only have half of the field to read etc... it's also the QB fault, heck, they can get those yards by themselves, why should they bother make 2nd and 3rd read, and risk getting hit?

Black QB's do have a tendacy to scramble & make plays happen. Does anyone remember Warren Moon? He was a pure pocket passer! Either your a good player or your not! Russell most likely be good because the RAIDERS O-line is worse than HORRIBLE!

Does anyone remember Akili Smith? He was terrible & was promptly shown the door!

Peyton Manning had a rookie rating of 71.2 with 28 int! I like Peyton but if the line isn't there we all know what happens! There isn't any whitewash! You can see the man can't scramble when needed!

Culpepper did have MOSS as an outlet! Maybe Daunte ism't that good?!

and back on topic: Bucs deny interest in Culpepper but for some reason Gruden can never have enough QBs... anyhow i read a report somewhere that Culpepper most likely wouldn't even be ready to play this season, despite what he claims.
