I propose a thread to track the crime sprees our favorite Sunday stars engage in throughout the season. I'll start:

SAN DIEGO -- Chargers linebacker Steve Foley was shot near his upscale suburban house by an off-duty policeman early Sunday morning in his second brush with police in 4½ months. Coach Marty Schottenheimer said the wounds were not life-threatening.

"All we're worried about is that he's OK," Schottenheimer told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

Foley's agent, David Levine, told the AP that Foley was shot three times and had surgery for wounds to his leg, arm and chest.

"He's out of danger at this point," Levine said.

I've pretty much stopped posting them on the homepage, preferring to concentrate on positive things by white athletes along with original CF articles, so this is a good place to put them, though I think Happy Hour is a better forum. If we list most of this kind of stuff here, even well-programmed white liberals and conservatives will be stunned by the sheer number of them, and how many of them involve serious crimes rather than the public drunkenness and DUI kind of stuff typical of white athletes who get arrested.

You know who I'm talking about, that clown who said he was going to shoot his mouth off during the Steelers' visit to the White House. I can't think of this guys name, its on the tip of my tongue, but I'm expecting him to do something stupid soon.

Lions coach to get counseling

Cullen, in his first year as defensive assistant, arrested twice in two weeks; in court next week.

Lions defensive-line coach Joe Cullen publicly apologized Wednesday to the team, its fans and his family for two recent alcohol-related arrests -- including one in which Dearborn police allegedly found him driving down Michigan Avenue nude.

Cullen, who lost a coaching job in 2005 after an arrest on a charge of public drunkenness, requested immediate counseling, a Lions representative said, and a private treatment program was set up for him.

The Lions front office confirmed Wednesday that Cullen, 38, was arrested Aug. 24 and Sept. 1 for misdemeanor offenses.

"I would like to apologize to the Detroit Lions organization, our fans, my family and friends for any embarrassment these incidents have caused," Cullen said in a statement, declining to answer further questions.

"These incidents represent a mistake in judgment on my part. I deeply regret them and have learned a valuable lesson. It won't happen again."

Lions president and CEO Matt Millen also issued a statement, saying, "Coach Cullen requested immediate help in seeking treatment. That assistance has been provided and a comprehensive, private program has been established for him."

Dearborn police confirmed that Cullen was arrested Aug. 24 and ticketed for indecent and obscene conduct.

Although the arresting officer stated on the ticket that Cullen was driving nude, no further details or explanations were given. The arrest occurred at 11:15 p.m. on Michigan Avenue near Lapham.

On Sept. 1, Dearborn police again stopped Cullen's 2006 Ford Explorer on Michigan Avenue, at about the same time of night, on suspicion of drunken driving. His blood-alcohol content was .12, police records say.

In Michigan, a blood-alcohol content of .08 or higher is considered drunken driving.

Court appearances in both cases are scheduled for next week.

The NFL has a personal-conduct policy that covers all full-time employees of the league and member clubs. It prohibits "violent and/or criminal activity," but does not mention drinking specifically.

The league has a substance-abuse policy but it applies only to players and is spelled out in the collective bargaining agreement. Discipline for club officials would have to come under provisions of what would be considered "conduct detrimental to the league."

NFL spokesman Michael Signora declined Wednesday to say whether Cullen could be subject to disciplinary action.

"We are aware of the situation and we are looking into it," Signora said.

Cullen joined the Lions this season after coaching in the college ranks for nearly 20 years, most recently at Illinois last year.

Earlier in 2005 he had been hired at Mississippi, but never coached there.

He was fired after being arrested on a public-drunkenness charge a week before the start of spring practice.

Cullen gets popped for DWI while driving nude, and bends over backwards apologizing to everybody.

But half the Minnesota Vikings are caught cavorting with imported prostitutes, while gambling on a luxury yacht, yet nary a word of apology or humility is heard from these men. The only thing they have to say about it is they did nothing wrong, and they're being charged only because they're black.

Maybe I'm not paying enough attention, but how many blacks arrested for these types of crimes, or worse, ever bother to apologize? To fans, teammates, or anybody? Edited by: White Shogun

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Brian Williams, arrested last weekend on drunken-driving charges, apologized for his actions Friday.


Williams was arrested early Sept. 2 after his 2006 black Bentley swerved toward a police car and caused the officer to hit a curb, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report.


According to authorities, Williams said he had not been drinking but had the smell of alcohol on his breath. He then stumbled when asked to get out of his car and immediately told the officer, "I ain't gonna blow."

Williams agreed to perform a field sobriety test but stepped off the line three times, then said he would no longer cooperate, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report said. He was arrested based on the test results, his demeanor, the smell of alcohol and his refusal to cooperate, police said.

Williams was "profane and cursing the entire time he was in the back seat of the police car," arresting officer Ernest Bridges wrote. "The suspect used racial slurs continuously on the trip to the jail."

Not one, not two, not three, not four, but five members of the Duquesne University basketball team are shot!!! Duquesne is a private Catholic school which borders the lower Hill District, Pittsburgh's main ghetto. It also borders downtown Pittsburgh. The instant, soothing, master of the obvious quote from the team's coach is more than a little predictable:


Duquesne coach Ron Everhart was dumbfounded by the shooting of five of his players Sunday. Still, he told ESPN.com's Andy Katz, he was struck by one thing: in the face of senseless violence, his newly-created team banded together.

The suspect in the Duquesne shooting is a 5ft-4in black man, a non-student who was "disruptive" at a party on campus. The suspect was obviusly considerably smaller than the players. As I write, he hasn't been caught yet.

This thread has gone dormant, but not because affletes have quit committing crimes. Found just today:


UConn kicked five players off its football team for undisclosed violations of team rules. Given the extremely gentle treatment college affletes almost always receive, we can assume criminal behavior was part and parcel of it.


Chargers' practice squad QB Markus Curry was arrested for domestic violence, the fifth Charger arrested since April, cutting into theBengals'now tenuous lead in that departmentwith six players arrested since last season.


Four Ohio U. basketball players were suspended after being arrested on charges including assault.


Two Iowa basketball players were charged with theft.


Three Southern Illinois basketball players were suspended after various run-ins with the law.


There's also the Indiana Pacers' strip club incident from last week, now ancient history in the dizzying fast-paced world of affletic malfeasance.


Tommie Smith and John Carlos, infamous for bowing their heads and giving the communist/black power salute on the medals stand in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics after finishing first and third in the 200, were pallbearers at the funeral of Australian Peter Norman, the silver medal winner, who died at the age of 64. Pallbearers? That's not a crime but maybe it should be in this situation. Guess Norman didn't have a lot of friends, or was a particularly annoying example of a white liberal.

HATTIESBURG -Former Southern Miss defensive backs Cornelius McGee and C.J. Bailey were removed from the football team after police alleged the two wounded a student on campus with an air-powered BB gun fired from Bailey's car.

Both were arrested and charged with aggravated assault early Wednesday morning. USM coach Jeff Bower said he dismissed both Wednesday, and that they won't be permitted back on the team regardless of any appeal process they pursue.

Investigation into Rape of UAlbany Student is Growing</font>

A third arrest overnight in the UAlbany rape case - and like the first two suspects, he is a member of the Great Danes' football team.

18-year-old freshman Charles Guadagno, of Maryland, was arrested and arraigned early this morning in Guilderland Town Court. He is now in the Albany County Jail, along with his two teammates, Julius Harris and Lorenzo Ashbourne.

All three are charged with felony non-forcible rape after a female freshman reported she was raped early Sunday morning to campus police.

Ashbourne was in Albany County Court this morning for a bail hearing. Bail was set at 50-thousand dollars - he has not made bail at this point. Ashbourne does have an attorney, John Casey, who would not comment on the case.

NEWS10 has learned one, possibly both, of the two remaining suspects will be represented by attorneys from the public defenders office. They have not returned our calls at this time.

Meanwhile on campus, Provost Susan Herbst is holding a student forum this afternoon. It will be held at 3 o'clock in the Campus Center Assembly Hall. A spokesman for the University told NEWS10's Jeff Stoecker they are closing this forum to the media so students can feel comfortable to speak freely about their concerns.

The Guilderland Town Court Clerk tells us all three suspects will have a preliminary hearing tomorrow night in town court.

According to the Albany County District Attorney's Office, Harris and Ashbourne have waived their preliminary hearing. No word yet on Guadagno.

Two Ball State University football players from Georgia face preliminary theft charges for allegedly stealing three laptop computers from a campus dormitory of the Indiana school.


Nineteen-year-old Eulas Jerrel Taylor III and 18-year-old Brandon Houston of Cartersville were being held without bond Tuesday on preliminary charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.
