Since all the big conference schools are having their championships this weekend,I think it would be a good idea to post the results here.I'll be rooting hard for Dusty and Nate, but let's not forget Peterson and Scherer in the Pac 10,who are doing well there and a fellow by the name of Nathan Vadeboncouer out of Illinois who qualified fastest in the 400 at the Big 12 Championships.Let's hope we get some good results today.

That's a great idea speedster.Don't forget about
Nate Soelberg who run's in the final of the 100
today too.I will be pulling for all of these guys.
D.Peterson looked really strong yesterday in both
the 200 and the 400.With him & Probasco,the future
looks bright in those events.I was sad to see Steve
Koehnemann miss out on the 100 final in the Pac 10
Champs by only 1/100th of a second.What a shame.

Vadeboncouer at Illinois would be big10 . ...he finished 2nd in 46.64... very good time. ..then followed it up with a 7th in the 200... very impressive.Another big10 talent at 400 is Aaron Buzzard but he didnt run in the 400 at the big10. .. must be injured. Edited by: bigman

I think the MVP and ironman award should go to Domenik Peterson, with his success in the 200 and 400 along with winning the 4x100 with Steve Koehnemann and also winning the 4x400 for Arizona State, the man is a beast.Matt Scherer is pretty tough too,as he had was involved in two secound place finishes in the relays.Big dissapointment for Nenad Loncar as he was DQ'ed for an out of lane violation in the 110 hurdles.Going in he was the secound fastest qualifier.Checking out other conference championships,it looks like the SEC has gotsome talent as there were some smoking times churned out by the likes of Mullings,Gay,Xavier Carter and Wallace Spearmon.Do you guys thing Stamer and Peterson,et all have a shot against these guys?

I think Peterson has a descent shot.Stamer would need
to run the perfect race in the semi's and the finals
to win it.He has the talent but just hasn't put it all
together yet.Arturus Abolins was 2nd in the long jump
for the Huskers.Very good showing.I really want to see
Dusty run that perfect race.I'm hoping that he will
continue his track career after graduating. With the
right coach,he could acheive bigger goals down the
road.

If you get fox sports look for the Pac-10 and Big-12 track meets. I just watched the Pac-10 meet and the Big-12 is just starting. (4p.m. central) They usually show them several times.

I saw Stamer and his third place performance today, and it's clear that his start is the problem. I'm not a sprinting expert, so correct me if I'm wrong, but he doesn't achieve his "top speed" quickly enough, and that's so crucial in the 100 meters. Once he reaches top speed he seems just as fast or faster than the other sprinters. He literally lost the race in the first second. Maybe somebody more knowledgeable of sprinting has an opinion on this.

Since he didn't run track for a few years because of football, hopefully he's just behind technique-wise and he can catch up eventually.

But I will say this: there can be no doubt that he was fast, agile, and explosive enough to be a running back. His football career is easily one of the worst "offenses" of the Caste system of all time.

No doubt about that JD074. One of the fastest guys in the country and he can't get a shot running the ball. It's not much use to watch the SEC's runs, cause those guys are almost all black.

Stamer does need to improve his start. He has never been
a great starter but seemed even worse in this race.If
he could improve his start, and just relax a little bit
more the last 30-40 meters. He sometimes tightens up a
little like if he is trying too hard. It's amazing that
running the 100 is as much mental as it is physical. You
have to be in the zone.Total focus on mind & body.Dusty
can get there with more preparation.I wish him luck at
the NCAA Finals.Probasco has also ran a 10.43 this year.
He will have to help carry the torch for the Huskers
since Dusty will be graduating.

I'm just pulling for someone white to break 10 seconds in the 100, and legally too.

My thoughts exactly JD074 & whitelightning. I thought he looked so much better in the relay where Nebraska with three whites crushed the field. It was a replay of lst years Big 12 championships where he was great in the relay and an also ran in the open 100.

Well we have the Regionals coming up this weekend to
see who can make the National Championships. In the
Midwest Regional we have Dusty Stamer,Nate Probasco and
Michael Gauthier competing in the 100 meters.Gauthier
is only a freshman so this is his first time on this
big a stage. He has run a best of 10.48 which is amazing
considering that he is only 5'7 tall.He must be one hell
of a starter.I think all 3 of these guys have a good shot
at making it to the nationals although Probasco is also
running the 200 which is his best event.
In the West Regional, you have Steve Koehnemann in
the 100 running for ASU.He is a sophmore but has really
battled injuries this season. He ran a 10.49 earlier this
year but if healthy can hit the 10.3 range. In the 200
we have Domenik Peterson of ASU.He will run both the
200 & the 400.Also Matt Scherer of Oregon. It should be
interesting.I wish Domenik would try to run the 100 and
the 200 to see how he could do.
In the East and Mideast I didn't notice anyone but
I could be wrong. It should be exciting with nationals
right around the corner.

In the regionals so far, everyone has advanced.Stamer
moved on to tommorows final in the 100.Nate Probasco
had the fastest 200 of the day to reach the finals. In
the west regional,Steve Koehnemann had a excellent time
with a 10.39 to advance to the Pac 10 Final in the 100.
His teamate D.Peterson qualified in both the 200 and
the 400.Matt Scherer of Oregon had the quickest time of
the day in the 400.In the relays, the 2 fastest relay
teams were Nebraska in the midwest and ASU out in the
west regionals. It is setting up to be a very exciting
day tommorow in the finals.Remember, these guys have to
have really good races tommorow to qualify for the
ncaa nat'l champs. in two weeks.Good luck to all of them.

Dusty Stamer finished in 3rd in the finals of the 100
meters.Nate Probasco finished in 2nd in the 200 meters.
Even though they didn't win, they both qualified for
the national champs in June.I still haven't seen Stamer
put together a complete race.He actually was faster last
season at least outdoors. His last chance will be on the
biggest stage there is.Good luck to him.

The 39.10 that Nebraska ran in the finals is a Midwest
Regional All Time Record and also the fastest time ever
by any Nebraska 4 x 100 Team.ASU ran another scorcher
winnning the Pac 10 Relay Title.Domenik Peterson finished
2nd and Matt Scherer 4th in the 400 meters.

Well the Nebraska 4X1 has an excellent chance of making it to the NCAA
final and a good chance of finishing high (top 3) ... It is a tough
race and tough competiton.

I can see Nebraska or ASU winning the relay. They seem
to run in the 39's with ease and just might dip into the
38 second range in the final. Both of these teams are
so smooth in passing the baton.I just hope that Stamer
can put together a perfect race to at least make the
finals of the men's 100 meters. He has underacheived just
a little bit this year.He has had his moments, mostly
indoors but hasn't come close to living up to his
potential.Go out with a bang Stamer.I would like to see
him run in the 10.10 - 10.15 range!
