Bell was the main reason Colorado State made a Bowl game in the 05' season. They missed him greatly in '06. I think he'll come back strong in '07. The problem with Colorado State is that they only get top white talent at postions like RB and WR and occasionally CB where they end up getting
studs that the black supremacy programs refuse to consider. However, they end up getting inferior white talent at postions like QB and inferior talent of any race at other postions compared to top programs. Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Yeah Colo st needs to recruit better on the offensive and defensive lines. They never look real dominate in the trenches during a game and that's were games are won and lost. I hope the o-line is strong next year for bell to have a monster junior campaigne.

CSU adds speed and strength to the defensive side of the ball with the addition of two pref. walk on's from Texas!

Jacob Biddle from Wimberley, TX (3A All State MLB 2006) Left the Naval Academy Prep school to walk on at CSU, in addition to Jacob the Rams also added another pref. walk on inGeoff Hayth a SS from Dripping Springs, Tx (4A All State 3rd Team 2005) who had originally committed to Air Force. Hayth sat out this past fall before enrolling at CSU!

Both kids were All District, All Centex, and All State players during their high school careers, as well as three year captains on their football teams.

Hayth was recruited by Fisher Deberry @ Air Force, Todd Spencer @ Navy, and Jerry Glanville @Hawaii - Hayth has good size @ 6 ft 1, 210lbs, good speed 4.54, and played all 3 db positions 9CB, SS, & FS)

Biddle was recruited by Todd Spencer @ Navy and Coach Bennett @SMU- Biddle has good size @ 6ft 2, 230lbs, good speed for MLB 4.65, led his team in tackles from 03-05, and led them to a class 3 A State Championship in 2005

Rams Stage Live Scrimmage

Preparations for the April 21st spring football game continued on Thursday afternoon.

April 5, 2007

Lubick has tentatively set practices next week for Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The Rams conclude spring drills April 21 with an intrasquad spring game at Hughes Stadium.

The Rams have 20 returning starters on hand- the most during Lubick's 15 seasons at the helm - for 2007 including junior RB Kyle Bell. He rushed for 1,288 yards and scored 10 touchdowns in 2005 but missed all of the `06 campaign when he suffered an injured right knee the week of the team's opening game. QB Caleb Hanie, who started all 12 games in 2006, also returns. Defensively, nine starters return to a unit that ranked among the conference and national leaders the entire season. Colorado State also returns starters P Jimmie Kaylor, who is currently atop the school's career list for punting average, and K Jason Smith.

Fort Collins - On a dreary, pull-back-the-covers Saturday morning for 99 percent of Colorado State students, football players were getting ready to pull on the gear for the first time since December.

There was no joy in the Rams' locker room when coaches announced practice was canceled.

So the Rams made up for it in ideal weather Sunday with a chippy attitude between offense and defense usually seen after two weeks of practice in August.

"I was upset. It was a horrible day, but we wanted to get started," senior H-back Kory Sperry said. "We had a horrible season last year and wanted anything to get ourselves going."

Said senior defensive tackle Erik Sandie, "I wasn't very happy at all."

No one was happier to be out in the sun Sunday than star running back Kyle Bell. Coming off knee surgery that wiped out his 2006 season, he is under wraps this spring. Just taking a handoff and catching a few passes meant the world to him.

"It's a great feeling just to be back," Bell said.

"It's the first day, everyone is that much more amped. Everyone is competing for a job," Sandie said. "We can feel it on the defense. The offense is in our face and we want to compete with them."

There were several loose-ball scrums at the line of scrimmage. Redshirt freshman running back John Mosure was finishing a long run when cornerback Joey Rucks punched out the ball from behind.

"There were a little bit too many collisions for having no pads on," CSU coach Sonny Lubick said.

Lubick couldn't fault the contagious enthusiasm.

"We have a lot of senior leadership. Everyone is really amped to be here," Sandie said. "We know what we did last year (4-8). I'm not going to say the defense did horrible, but we want to make everyone better as a team."

They held Kyle out of the Spring game so he'd be ready for the fall, so Freshman John Mosure got his try at RB. He racked up a game high 49 yards on 9 carries including a 3 yard score. Junior WR Luke Roberts led in yardage with 3 catches for 56 yards. DT Blake Smith had 3 sacks for a combined 21 yard loss plus 3 TFLs. He had 5 total tackles. DB Zac Bryson led all defensive players with 7 total tackles, 3 TFLs, and 1 sack. QB Caleb Hanie looked good as well.

Here's a quote from last week's Rocky Mountain Newsabout the battle for the number 2 RB spot. I thought the part about Johnson amusing.

"Junior Michael Myers and redshirt freshman John Mosure have turned in strong spring sessions, and if their emergence continues, there's a good chance 2006 leading rusher Gartrell Johnson will wind up at blocking back.

"I'm fired up about Myers and Mosure," Hammerschmidt said. "That's a neck-and-neck deal right now (for the No. 2 spot behind Bell), and the best thing about it is it could allow us to use Gartrell more at fullback. I think that would help our running game all the way around."
