Figured I'd kickoff this year's season with some players to keep an eye on. I broke down ESPN's top 100 players for this year. Here are our guys:

This is only one publication's opinion, and they are not exactly known to be White friendly, but this is 23% of the top players being our guys. The better news is that the list is top heavy, with our guys being 9 of the top 25 (36%).

PS - I would note that Finnish prodigy and 5-star recruit Miikka Muurinen is notably missing. I would assume that this list was put together while his NCAA eligibility was still in limbo. I would assume that he would comfortably be in the rankings between 30 to 80 if I had to guess.

thank you, Freethinker.

Muurinen, barring something unforeseen (injury, nil contract, etc.), will be a lottery pick, perhaps even the #1 overall. he’s that gifted.

Great job Freethinker. It's gonna be another fun year of college basketball. I think we've made more progress in basketball than football over the last decade. Still not nearly enough but we are moving slowly into a better direction going forward. Trying to stay positive!

I believe Nolan Winter can be a Top 30 talent! Still haven’t seen the best from him!

All in all, quite a lot to cheer for!

It should also be highlighted that the Fighting Illini will have 4 top 100 White athletes on their squad. Stojakovic, Ivisic, Vaaks and Mirkovic will make the team a must watch!

the first collegiate game of the season has taken place, and Notre Dame prevailed. noteworthy in this contest is that the Fighting Irish had 8 athletes play double figure minutes. why does this garner attention?

6 of those players (including 3 starters) were of the overachieving, gym rat, blue collar and lunch pail variety. hopefully, this sets the tone for a great year of college basketball!

It's great to have college basketball back. Number 1 Florida is about to win. Illinois looks great early on headed for a blowout most
likely. The U of A Wildcats play UCLA later. That should be a good game. Probably other games I'm missing.

Purdue is playing in Vegas against Gonzaga. it’s very entertaining and close, but “somehow” the best players on the court have all been our guys: Jacobsen for Purdue, with Huff and Fogle for Gonzaga.

Purdue plays more White athletes, starting 2, (and the Israeli citizen Mayer who doesn’t look jewish) and playing 5, while Gonzaga starts 2 (and Asian Canadian Lee) with 1 key reserve on a much shorter bench.

The Memphis Tigers are never White friendly. However this year they start 2 key White athletes and they were a big part of their upset over #18 Iowa State (not as White as a team from Iowa should be). Latvian Rihards Vavers scored 15 while Indiana native Luke Almodovar had 18 points and 8 rebounds.

I was hoping Arizona would win as they are a bit better than UCLA demographically but they did not. Ivan Kharchenkov however started the season with a bang and a 38/10 double double.

I was rooting for the Wildcats too. Kharchenkov is the real deal. I saw his picture on many of the NCAA Basketball Magazines Front Covers! He has nba talent without a doubt. Tough loss but the Cats will bounce back soon. They have only 2 white starters but more whites on the team that come off the bench. Hoping we can get a 3rd starter out of that group of guys.

‘Zona couldn’t overcome its starting trio of “supa affletes” shooting themselves out of the game. the WGAs combined for 7-27 from the floor. apparently, they didn’t get the memo that you feed the hot hand. instead, they wanted to “git dey shots up” or something …

meanwhile, Kharchenkov went an incredibly efficient 12-20 from the floor (12-16 from the line) for his 38 points. basketball isn’t complicated.

If I told you guys that there was an SEC team starting 4 White athletes, how many guesses would you take before getting to South Carolina? I glanced at the box score, as I remembered they had the Ellis brothers committing a few years ago (Eli and Isaac). Well I learned that Eli transferred to University of Charleston and Isaac is with Louisville. Oh well. However, the team starts an Argentine, a Czech, a Lithuanian and regular ol’ WT from Montana. All scored double figures tonight. Fernandez with 20, Heide (Purdue and Texas transfer) with 13, Necas with 11 and Bieliauskas with 10. Off the bench they have a Spaniard Lopez and an American guard Sparkman. So 6 of 10 White rotation tonight. Probably the best team in the SEC demographically.

some players of note:

David Mirkovic (Illinois) - the personification of mismatch nightmare. at 6-foot-9, “Mirk” is a true point forward who loves to post up smaller wings and pass out of the double team that ensues. the sophomore plays at his pace, rarely allowing defensive play to speed him up, and he’s comfortable initiating the offense or playing off the ball. he’s strong on the glass (led the Illini in rebounding last season), too, so as soon as he’s fit (he’s currently recovering from foot and appendix surgery), Illinois will be even more stacked.

Thijs De Ridder (Virginia) - with most of the preseason hype in the ACC revolving around Duke, it may be a surprise that he best player in the conference might actually play for Virginia. a 6-foot-9 sophomore, De Ridder is a smooth, complete scorer from all three levels. technically a post player, he prefers to play on the perimeter facing the basket where his ball skills allow him to slash against opposing bigs or shoot over smaller defenders. he’s also not bashful about hitting the glass.

Alex Condon doesn’t get talked about nearly as much as his (rightly) hyped teammate Thomas Haugh (who might be the best player in the country), but Condon is elite in his own right. a superb defender, he can show up in the box score as a scorer, rebounder, passer, shot blocker, or with steals. he’s an all around player who just wins.

Moteijus Krivas (Arizona) - the 7-foot-2 center may emerge as the PoY in the Big 12. he’s a defensive stalwart, perhaps the best post defender in the country (6 blocks against UCLA in their opener). while sophomore scoring sensation Ivan Kharchenkov got the pub after his 38-point performance in an opening game loss, it might be Krivas whose play determines how successful the Wildcats’ season will be.

Davis Fogle (Gonzaga) - the sweet shooting 6-foot-7 sophomore has the green light for Mark Few’s squad. after being buried on the bench to start his freshman campaign, the lanky shooting guard emerged as a pivotal figure in the second half of the season. this year, he looks to be the focal point of the Zags’ offensive plan.

I wanted to post the other night, but was busy, that @Phall ‘s Michigan Wolverines are not as bad as I would have thought. We knew J.P. Estrella was their big transfer acquisition and would play a key role (15 & 12 in the first game). I was however unaware they were also starting a Kiwi forward Oscar Goodman. Then the top reserve off of the bench was talented freshman big Quinn Costello. Another guy to watch is 7’-3” Danish freshman Marcus Moller. Overall not too shabby for a top 25 team to get behind.

There's a French kid at Murray State who looks to be very good.
His name is Roman Domon.
One site has him ranked 59th in the country.
