So, Saint Mary’s knocks off #1 ranked Gonzaga, 67-57. Great win for the Gaels. Timme and Holmgren only had 6 points each for Gonzaga. Their 3 black guards took way too many shots. Hopefully that was a lesson learned going forward. Saint Mary’s starts 4 Whites, with 2 more in the rotation off the bench. Look for them to make some noise in the tournament.

Good for St. Mary's. They've been on the wrong side of a lot of close games with Gonzaga over the Years.

What a great game by the Gaels. I thought they had 5 white starters but Logan Johnson is questionable for sure. He has blue or green eyes but really curly hair. Johnson also said after the game he was raised by his mother so ya kind of put 2 and 2 together. That’s the first time I have rooted against Gonzaga.

Last night's action:

Hunter Dickinson with a career high 33 pts along with 9 rbs as Michigan routed Michigan State at home. Dickinson is the team's best player and only white player.

Colin Castleton led the Gators in both points and rebounds with 19 and 8 in an impressive comeback win on the road against Vanderbilt. Castleton is the team's best player and only white player. Florida looks like it's on the right side of the selection committee cutoff.

Tanner Groves led the Sooners in both points and rebounds with 17 and 10 in a big home win against West Virginia. His brother Jacob made the starting lineup and added three 3-pointers. Unfortunately, Oklahoma is outside the bubble at a very modest 16-14.

Collin Gillespie is recognized as the star of the #11 Villanova Wildcats and went for 14-4-5 in a narrow win against #9 Providence. How rare are white American point guards? Villanova has three on scholarship right now.

Wisconsin held serve at home against #8 Purdue to clinch a share of the Big Ten conference title. The #10 Badgers were led by Tyler Wahl's 19 points. The Boilermakers got 17 and 9 out of Zach Edey and 11 points from Sasha Stefanovic. Purdue plays four white athletes in its rotation; Wisconsin gave minutes to five. Both teams have chances to make the tourney as a #2 seed.

Davidson is 25-4. They start 4 Whites and a Chinaman. They’re not ranked, but definitely will make the tournament.

Coach K’s last home game at Duke. Obviously an all-time great with a litany of great White players. Not so many championships with his 5 star, one and done affletes. Nevertheless, a true legend. He probably couldn’t get hired in this day and age because he “doesn’t look like his players.”

Coach K played zero whites in his final home game as a head coach. UNC spoiled his sayonara, and while they weren't much better, Brady Manek had arguably the best stat line of the night with 20-11-3, a block and a steal on 5-10 from beyond the arc. Carolina moved themselves off the bubble and into the field.

Davidson dropped a tough one on the road against Dayton. They'll have the #1 seed in the A10 tournament but would do well to make the final. Foster Loyer returned to action and scored 25 points off the bench.

Florida couldn't overcome Kentucky at home and aren't quite off the bubble yet. Colin Castleton is their lone white and best player, putting up 23 and 11 against the Wildcats.

Syracuse really tanked this year and went out with a whimper. They blew an 11-point halftime lead at home against Miami for their fourth straight loss, falling to 15-16 for the season. Buddy Buckets scored 30 points in defeat. The Orange will need two conference tournament wins just to qualify for the NIT. Despite starting four whites at present, next year's team will probably only feature Joe Girard. Boeheim insists he won't be retiring though. If he doesn't, he should hire a defensive assistant - the 2-3 zone hasn't gotten it done lately.

Notre Dame closed out its regular season by smashing Pitt at home. Nate Laszewski had 17 and 9, and Cormac Ryan went for 15-6-3. The Irish would be a bubble team to cheer for.

The Colgate Raiders are flying high in the Patriot League and could be a trendy upset pick if they win their conference tourney for the second year in a row. IIRC they have just two black starters and a whole lotta whiteys. Swing guard Jack Ferguson had 28 and 7 against Bucknell in the opening round.

Great updates Phall. Thank you for your hard work. I've always said that March Madness is one of the most exciting events in all of sports. Win or go home! I'm excited
to watch alof of college basketball in March and into April. I hope that many of the teams we root for can go deep into the tournament.

did anyone see Bellarmine win their conference tourney? we talked about them earlier this season and, though they took their lumps during the non-conference season, they put together a very good year in their first season of D-I hoops.

too bad they aren’t eligible to participate in the NCAA Tournament. their style is unique and very fun to watch.

Caught the end of it! PG CJ Fleming knocking down free throws! He finished with a career high 27pts. Looking forward to seeing him and Bellarmine in the Tournament!

but that’s just it, Bucky. they aren’t eligible for the Tourney. something about the transition period up to Division One ... shrug

perhaps they’ll be allowed to play in the NIT?

regardless of the eventual outcome of tonight’s conference tournament game, the Saint Mary’s Gaels are giving #1 Gonzaga all they can handle. and when you consider that the Gaels split the regular season meetings with the Zags, despite not having ANY “real” affletes, one wonders why there are so few (not any?) other teams who recruit players like Saint Mary’s does ... their high level performance (year after year) without a bunch of high profile signees or high flying non-scholar affletes should provide a model for countless struggling teams across the country. but despite success supposedly being copied, there doesn’t appear to be any copycats out there. “weird,” huh?

The Asian guy is South Korean. Lee Hyun-jung. 6'7". ESPN has an article about him. I looked at the box score stats for the regular season. In their last 5 games, Hyun-jung was the leading scorer in 3 games(George Mason, Duquesne, Saint Louis) and the 2nd leading scorer in one game(Dayton). In the regular season, he was often the 2nd or 3rd leading scorer. So, based on the box score stats, he is one of their better players, or at least one of the better offensive players on the team.
