This writer predicts evangelical Christianity will collapse within ten years. He blames it on the church identifying too much with conservative causes. Actually, Christianity is dying because the vast majority of evangelical leaders sold out by preaching obedience toa government implacably opposed to Christian morality and ethics, and by preaching loyalty toa parasitic foreign country implacably opposed to Christianity above loyalty to their own country.

The coming evangelical collapse

We are on the verge - within 10 years - of a major collapse of evangelical Christianity. This breakdown will follow the deterioration of the mainline Protestant world and it will fundamentally alter the religious and cultural environment in the West.

Within two generations, evangelicalism will be a house deserted of half its occupants. (Between 25 and 35 percent of Americans today are Evangelicals.) In the "Protestant" 20th century, Evangelicals flourished. But they will soon be living in a very secular and religiously antagonistic 21st century.

This collapse will herald the arrival of an anti-Christian chapter of the post-Christian West. Intolerance of Christianity will rise to levels many of us have not believed possible in our lifetimes, and public policy will become hostile toward evangelical Christianity, seeing it as the opponent of the common good.

Millions of Evangelicals will quit. Thousands of ministries will end. Christian media will be reduced, if not eliminated. Many Christian schools will go into rapid decline. I'm convinced the grace and mission of God will reach to the ends of the earth. But the end of evangelicalism as we know it is close.
Why is this going to happen?

1. Evangelicals have identified their movement with the culture war and with political conservatism. This will prove to be a very costly mistake. Evangelicals will increasingly be seen as a threat to cultural progress. Public leaders will consider us bad for America, bad for education, bad for children, and bad for society.

The evangelical investment in moral, social, and political issues has depleted our resources and exposed our weaknesses. Being against gay marriage and being rhetorically pro-life will not make up for the fact that massive majorities of Evangelicals can't articulate the Gospel with any coherence. We fell for the trap of believing in a cause more than a faith.

2. We Evangelicals have failed to pass on to our young people an orthodox form of faith that can take root and survive the secular onslaught. Ironically, the billions of dollars we've spent on youth ministers, Christian music, publishing, and media has produced a culture of young Christians who know next to nothing about their own faith except how they feel about it. Our young people have deep beliefs about the culture war, but do not know why they should obey scripture, the essentials of theology, or the experience of spiritual discipline and community. Coming generations of Christians are going to be monumentally ignorant and unprepared for culture-wide pressures.

3. There are three kinds of evangelical churches today: consumer-driven megachurches, dying churches, and new churches whose future is fragile. Denominations will shrink, even vanish, while fewer and fewer evangelical churches will survive and thrive.

4. Despite some very successful developments in the past 25 years, Christian education has not produced a product that can withstand the rising tide of secularism. Evangelicalism has used its educational system primarily to staff its own needs and talk to itself.

5. The confrontation between cultural secularism and the faith at the core of evangelical efforts to "do good" is rapidly approaching. We will soon see that the good Evangelicals want to do will be viewed as bad by so many, and much of that work will not be done. Look for ministries to take on a less and less distinctively Christian face in order to survive.

6. Even in areas where Evangelicals imagine themselves strong (like the Bible Belt), we will find a great inability to pass on to our children a vital evangelical confidence in the Bible and the importance of the faith.

7. The money will dry up.

I may not be a regular church goer, but this is very alarming. It will mean a rise in sodomy, a rise in pornography, a rise in crime rate, a further rise in adultery and divorce. You might as well throw the 10 commandments out the window.

Thou shalt kill
Thou shalt steal
Thou shalt take thy neighbors goods and wife
Thou shalt speak against the word of God

It's communism and socialism about to really dominate the world.

Many black dumb-asses don't realize about the rise of socialism and secularism, they had better start defending their Black Christian Churches, or there will be no more Gospels, no more Amen's, and no more Hallelujahs.

I agree with Don's assessment, along with number 2 and 3 in the article. Like Shogun, I think its a gross exageration of the situation.

I disagree. There is already a large percentage of the population out there that already is "non-Christian" and yet where is the larceny and rioting in the streets at? Where are the non-religious looneys going around robbing little old ladies and sodimising the statue of Larry Flint? People who are non-Christian don't all of sudden become immoral or "bad" citizens. In fact many non-religious people, myself included, tend to gravitate towards a more spiritual lifestyle and interact with God in their own way and are very productive members of society.

The Christian mainline denominations have seen some fall-off, whereas the "McChurches"/mega-churches grow due to being Entertainment masquerading as a Godly Church. The rise of false-prophets like Rick "CFR" Warren & glorified motivational speaker (millionaires) like Joel "Oscheme", TD "Shakes (Ya down)", Joyce "Lyer", etc. has drawn in the seeker-congregations. As Don alluded to, the fallacy of "Christian Zionism" also continues. Fyi, below is a good expose of the the many hucksters...

Great post! When the Bible is put off as just "another book" people start to say "well this is o.k b/c IMO it doesn't directly hurt anyone and it feels good" and man's judgment is not divine judgment.

Since you brought up porn; I thought I'd bring up an old thread; I am sort of preaching here so I hope I don't agitate anyone.

I formerly posted in another happy hour thread about the dangers of pornography; (mainly hardcore) and the reason it is dangerous and how hypocrisy has reached more than it's boiling point to have this stuff legal but prostitution not.

It's the exact same thing only two are getting paid for porn...But pornography is much more dangerous to cause addiction and very accessible on the internet to children. And statistically sex crime rates have gone up with it's introduction and then again with the easy accessibility on the net.

Many "Christians" also, will go to church, then the next day go looking at porn, go on thinking abortion is o.k and go to the bar to try to get laid for a one night stand. If they aren't truly asking for forgiveness these are what I call fake Christians. In the last few years I have become a very strong Catholic.

Banning hard-core porn is a very personal issue to me, b/c a good friend of mine (I met him in Catholic H.S BTW) was set to get married in Canada 3 summers ago, but his fiance found loads of porn on his computer also including inappropriate pictures of adolescent girls (enough said). They broke up and this girl talked about this to basically everyone she knew and destroyed his reputation. I prayed for him a lot, but it hurt him financially, ended his relationship and completely crushed him personally and he wound up in a mental hospital after threatening suicide.

After he got out; he talked to me about it and said it all started with just curiosity the first time he looked at porn b/c he wasn't getting sex and then it grew and grew. Then it made him think that no woman would love him and that every single person was having sex in the world except him.

Then it got worse again b/c when he met his fiance he didn't find her physically attractive (to say she's not a knockout is putting it very diplomatically; I don't feel guilty saying this b/c I don't think this girl is a nice person). I don't know if what my friend said is accurate, but he said if buying sex was legal in Ontario (it's not legal to buy sex, but generally you don't go to jail if you do); he would have done that and maybe could have stopped himself from going so far down this path of destruction of self-hate with porn.

In my educated opinion, you can't legalize sex all over the internet and then ban lonely (or sexually frustrated) males from paying for it themselves. These policies make zero sense.

Ban em both so people respect the laws (which I'd prefer) so we aren't an on-the fence "false Christian" Nation or have both legal. This particular friend of mine later joined a Catholic group with me and wants me to preach the word on this.

He knows I have the ability as a writer to articulate the dangers of this. The Christians in my family in Canada and the ones here in Jersey want me to become a "Culture Warrior" by using my writing skills.

This is why I am so committed against the evils of pornography; my fiance is too. She's a virgin btw; and I've been abstinent for 7 years (At first it actually wasn't by choice, but now it is). I have no problem telling anyone this; we live our life by the word and I can't wait to get married.

I talk about her all the time; b/c currently in my life here in Jersey all I have is this site, my writing hobby and her; I don't like it here in Jersey at all and haven't found many new people that are admirable here either.

Here is my old post on porn:

If you've been abstinent for 7 years AND have nothing to do with porn I can see how you "can't wait to get married." I'd be foaming at the mouth!!
smiley2.gif

Why are you even considering adoption? You're not married, have no kids, the whole idea of parenthood is going through the complete process: conception, pregnancy, birth, raising YOUR child. Why before even doing any of that would you even think about raising someone else's offspring? If you are really a devout Catholic you should know that creating a human life with a soul endowed from God is your highest moral purpose. What are they teaching Catholic's nowadays????

For some reason I felt moved today to share my personal story on this issue. And to all the feminists out there; there is no greater objectifying of women (not even prostitution; because prostitutes can keep their actions on the hush-hush and not have a permanent record of their fornication on the net.) This debate actually starts here, if you want to read the whole thread: Very interesting.

It is more my idea to adopt than her. I mentioned it in another thread. I don't want more than two kids so we can give them the most time and love possible to build a quality life for them (a much smaller factor would be feeling guilty about draining resources from the earth with a big family). Plus another big factor is; I have Bi-Polar and worry about passing it on to our kids and if you have two with Bi-Polar it would be very difficult for our family

Also when you have natural kids there is always a chance for twins. I truly want to have the first child natural and adopt the second; although she isn't quite as keen on this as me; so we'll have to mutually decide.

These children need loving Christian families. Can you imagine being an orphan and going through the slow process of being placed into foster care with family services picking which family you go to?

And yes; certainly what you said contributes for both of us to want to get married quickly.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Porn is one of old Scratch's favorite (vice) lures....amongst other "tackle box" favorites...booze, gambling & dope. It's repugnant, vile trash indeed. The Baptist in me says ban it all, but the Libertarian side is very wary of any further government empowerment. I have mixed feelings regarding legality, BUT have utter disdain for smut peddlers like Larry Flynt, (rootless cosmopolitan) Steve Hirsch, etc. Like the NWO, these vermin are serving their Master...the Son of Perdition himself!

Dixie, God says "render to Caesar what is Caesar's render to God what is God's" so I think as a Baptist on certain issues you can render to responsibly elected officials. I'm only a libertarian on certain issues; Marijuana for instance.

I tried Pot a couple times when I was younger, and now see it as something that is unhealthy, but I think it should be decriminalized. I am even open to the selling of Organic weed in Government licensed shops that can be taxed to help fix the federal deficit. We spend a ridiculous amount of money booking and throwing addicts in jail in the U.S.

Although I want the production for solicitation of "hardcore" porn to be completely illegal in America, I don't think "possession" of 18+ hardcore porn should be criminalized and I don't think buyers of Prostitution or the Prostitutes should be treated as criminals and thrown in jail. They should only be considered addicts. Certain things should be illegal; but only go after the ring leaders making the money off it: The drug dealers, (for Pot only for X amounts), the Pimps, the Pornographic media owners.

I come from Canada and the motto up there is "Peace, Order and Good Government". The Conservative party in Canada as a whole isn't far to the right of Obama who's a flaming liberal for America; voters just didn't realize he was possibly the most liberal Senator in the Senate.

The Conservative Party up there economically, foreign policy speaking and I guess on certain social-moral issues are basically the Democrats down here.

Believe me when you come from the culture I come from in Canada it shocks me how conservative people are in places like South Carolina. Where I lived in Ontario, I'm a conservative; in parts of the south they'd call me a flaming liberal.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Of course, because Canada is a socialist country and people there have been conditioned to take it even more than we have in the states, especially the South. A great example of how dangerous the slow slide can be in changing mindsets about everything.

good point, Colonel. here is another example of a slow-moving threat that Amercians are completely ignoring: the Islamification of Europe. i found this article at Vdare.com.
Dead Culture Walking: Muslim Colonization Of Europe Should Frightent America

By Brenda Walker
If there is anything that should make Americans' blood run cold about immigration, it is the sight of Europeâ€â€and Britain, the home of Western civilizationâ€â€being buried by millions of Muslim colonists. Europe is just hoping against hope that Islam isn't going to explode into massive rioting (or worse), or impose total cultural Islamification. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Major jihadist terror occurred in London (July 7, 2005, killing 52 and injuring 700) and in Madrid (March 11, 2004, killing 191 and injuring 1841). Yet cowardly politicians continue policies of appeasement, which hostile Muslims correctly apprise as the fatal weakness of a culture too pacified to defend itself.
Some Europeans already accept the coming Eurabia. One Dutchman, mourning the future loss of Europe was quoted by Paul Belien as saying, <B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"I am not a warrior, but who is? I have never learned to fight for my freedom. I was only good at enjoying it."[/B]
Well, that's honest. But how about less self-pity and more directed anger? Many Americans I know in the patriotic immigration reform movement had a come-to-Jesus moment of awakening from passivity, turning to resolve to save the country.
Did America encourage Europe's socialist pacifism by protecting it too well, starting after the Second World War? Perhaps. Having your freedom handed to you on a plate is no way to appreciate its value.
Other causes of the continent's tragic downfall are rooted in recent history. They include business' desire for cheap labor (so familiar!), a trendy belief in secular multiculturalism as a replacement for Christianity and apparent ignorance of Islam's long-standing enmity toward Europe.
Now the triumphs of Tours and Vienna are being trampled by immigrants, entering mostly legally. It's a wonder the Muslims bother with terrorism at all when demography is working so well for them.
Europe's swirl down the toilet bowl is little reported in this country largely because the Main Stream Media is not interested in showing it. The top media elites are still stuck on multiculturalism. But the European experience shows what a bogus ideology that is.
In 2004, CBS's <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Sixty Minutes[/I] did present a chilling and memorable segment about the crime-filled immigrant housing projects in France, <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">The New French Revolution[/I]<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">:[/I][/B]
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"But nothing prepared France for what happened to a 17-year-old French Muslim girl named Sohane Benziane. Her case really woke up the country to the nightmare that has been festering so long in these projects. [/B]
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"Sohane was burned alive in the basement of an apartment complex by a gang leader who had told her that he didn't want to see her on his turf. After her murder, her sister, Kahina, dedicated a memorial at the site of her killing." [/B]
Though emotionally searing, the <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Sixty Minutes[/I] piece contained no mention that France's Muslim population is expanding rapidly. The number of Muslims residing in Western Europe in 1900 is estimated at around 50,000 . Now France alone is home to somewhere between four and eight million followers of Islam.
Just recently, five years later, Fox News has carried a televised report, <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Politicians Fret as Muslim Population Swells in Europe Amid Little Integration[/I]<I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal"> [/I][March 24, 2009].
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"Although there are no official statistics on how many Muslims live in Brussels, it is believed they make up about 25 percent of the city's 1 million urban residents. [/B][Filip]<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"> Dewinter, who opposes immigration and has called Islamophobia a "duty," claims three of the 19 sections of Brussels, each with its own mayor, [/B]<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">now have Muslim majorities.[/B]<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"> [/B]
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"'In those neighborhoods it's not our government that's in power,' he said, 'but the Muslim authorities  the mosques, the imams  who are in charge.' [/B]
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"FOX News visited one of those neighborhoods, called Molenbeek, which looks [/B]<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">more like North Africa[/B]<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"> than the heart of Europe... [/B]
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"Yet Molenbeek remains disconcerting. Belgian police assigned three plainclothes officers to watch over a FOX News team shooting street scenes one morning in Molenbeek. When FOX News returned in the afternoon as more people were out and about, the police said it would be safer not to get out of the car. It wasn't even dark yet."[/B]
Notice this level of danger exists in Brusselsâ€â€the supposed capital of the Europe Union.
News icon Edward R. Murrow is remembered in particular for broadcasting from London during the blitz to warn America of the threat to civilization posed by Hitler.
Had Murrow lived during our own time rather than WWII, he may well have tried to alert 21st century Americans to the present danger from totalitarian Islam on the march. But there is no modern Murrow to warn the people, because the MSM no longer does its job to inform about the pressing issues.
In the eye of the slow-moving storm, resistance to the invader is not particularly strong. Denmark has stiffened its entry requirements to keep out the unfriendlies, but it is the exception and not the rule. Italy's education minister has suggested that a limit of 30 percent foreign students be the limit per classroom, so that the immigrants assimilate to the national culture rather than the other way around. Naturally, the economic downturn has made the majority of Europeans want the excess immigrants to go home, but many governments prefer not to upset Muslims, who are famously sensitive about the most minor slight.
Many Muslims are happy to remain on the dole anyway. One example is generous Sweden, where the primarily immigrant Rosengaard neighborhood of Malmo has an unemployment rate of 70 percent. (Plus, the area is so violent that fire trucks need police escorts, and the number of rapes has tripled in 20 years.)
Americans often have a low opinion of Europeans, particularly the French (once described on The Simpsons as cheese-eating surrender monkeys, a rip that has stuck). But we hate to see Britain turn into a quivering bowl of sharia jello out of respect for our shared Anglophone culture.
Who could have imagined that the countrymen of Winston Churchill would meekly acquiesce to recognizing and rewarding polygamy? Multi-wifed Muslim families even receive extra welfare benefits for the various harem members and kiddiesâ€â€though bigamy is still illegal.
There was an uproar last year when Archbishop Rowan Williams suggested that Islamic sharia should be accepted as part of British law.
Sharia lawâ€â€that's the Muslim legal system that decrees the second-class status of women, executions for homosexuals and amputations for theft.
The Archbishop remains ensconced in Lambeth Palace, despite demands for his resignation during the sharia kerfuffle. In fact, weathering the crisis appears to have made him bolder.
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"On the anniversary of the interview in which Dr Rowan Williams said it 'seems inevitable' that some parts of sharia would be enshrined in this country's legal code, he claimed 'a number of fairly senior people' now take the same view. [/B]
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"He added that there is a 'drift of understanding' towards what he was saying, and that the public sees the difference between letting Muslim courts decide divorces and wills, and allowing them to rule on criminal cases and impose harsh punishments." [/B]
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">[[/B]Archbishop of Canterbury: Society is coming round to my views on sharia<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">, By Martin Beckford,, <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Daily Telegraph[/I], Feb 15, 2009].[/B]
Is everyone assured that <B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"harsh punishments"[/B] â€â€flogging, amputations, etc.â€â€will not occur at some future date?
And whatever happened to the proud tradition of the Magna Carta? Is nothing worth defending? How shameful to surrender founding legal principles of centuries' duration so thoughtlessly to the Islamic interlopers.
Britain is fascinating to observe because it is far advanced along the immigration road to hell, especially given its powerful multicultural nanny state.
Plus, the extra helping of Muslims makes British cultural survival all the more challenging. The UK shows exactly what not to do in public policyâ€â€a combination of poorly chosen immigrants, the false ideology of multiculturalism and disempowerment (both physically and psychologically) by disarming the populace.
Sadly there seems to be organized opposition among the traditional folk against their new alien overlords. However, there are uprisings of appropriate anger on rare occasions. One such was the outrage of Luton residents toward Muslims insulting British soldiers returning from serving in Iraq. Local people of all ages simply wouldn't allow Muslims to abuse the troops and proceeded to chase off the obnoxious hecklers. [Watch.] It was brief demonstration that normal patriotism (and therefore hope) has not been completely repressed by the liberal thought police in Britain.
But from this side of the pond, the UK looks like toast. In 30 years, London will likely be a sand-free version of Riyadh, with wall-to-wall burqas, and Saudi-style morality police in place of bobbies.
Yet even with Europe's Technicolor demonstration that Muslim immigration equals cultural suicide, American elites and the press still cling to the dangerous fable that we are somehow immune from those troubles because America does assimilation better than Europeans.
Perhaps we do in the area of employment opportunity. But that's not the point. We should instead be asking whether Muslim immigrants become loyal members of the US communityâ€â€and many don't. A 2007 Pew poll found that only 28 percent thought of themselves as Americans first while 47 percent identified primarily as Muslims. Their loyalty lies abroad with the worldwide Muslim community (the ummah), which sees itself as being victimized by the West.
But because of what Enoch Powell called <B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">"[/B]<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">obstacles which are deeply rooted in human nature"[/B] when grappling with slow-moving threats, we snooze on, despite the throbbing neon message of doom.
Muslim immigration to America is growing, but the overall number is still small as a proportion of population. But it's never too early to quit the habit. Clever analysts have noticed that when the percentage of Muslims in a non-Muslim culture reaches around 10 per cent, bad things happen.
Americaâ€â€let's not go there!
We are just as vulnerable to the actions of hostile Muslim immigrants as our fellow English-speakers across the Atlantic. But we still have the blessing of time. We could come to regret ignoring Europe's experience by allowing numbers of Islamists here to reach critical mass. Even a handful of determined jihadists can kill thousands, as we learned on 9/11.
We must realize as a nation that there's no right to immigrateâ€â€and we are foolish to welcome possible enemies.
Brenda Walker (email her) lives in Northern California and publishes two websites, LimitsToGrowth.org and ImmigrationsHumanCost.org. She's still looking for the Mythical Moderate Muslim.

The failure of the Church has always been NOT identifying with political causes enough. If your pastor does not have an opinion or an incorrect opinion on things like gun control, the Presidential election, the creeping socialism or the racial pandering, shame on him!!!Edited by: White_Savage

If only the Evangelicals would adopt (authentic) political conservatism! They tend to support big government, the big brother state -- so long as its figurehead is someone like "W". On racial matters, it's hard not to label most of them liberal. Promise Keepers and all that garbage.

Good point. Many (well meaning) Evangelicals (especially here down South) are deceived Bushbot Neocons.

ALTON BAY, N.H. - Authorities are on the scene of a massive Easter fire that's damaged dozens of buildings on the grounds of a Christian center in New Hampshire.

Firefighters tell the News 9 television station in Manchester that 52 buildings burned at the Alton Bay Christian Conference Center, 30 miles northeast of Concord. The buildings are cottage-type seasonal homes.

There are no reports of civilian injuries. One firefighter has been hurt.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined.

The center's Web site says its purpose is to change lives by "encouraging commitment to Jesus Christ and offering opportunities to mature in one's Christian life style." It says it tries to accomplish this through evangelism, encouragement of believers and equipping Christians to be effective leaders.

The center was founded in 1863. It sits along New Hampshire's biggest lake.

Mex or Muslum? Can't we ban them both? How hard can it be to round up some trucks and send them back to where they came from?

BTW, I stopped going to church. I was tired of some priest telling me that I was a bad person because I do not support the importation of mexicans who want to harm me.
