He is listed as a defensive back which is a generic term for either a cornerback or safety. Considering the other defensive backs on the team are 180 and 185 pounds does that make him a reserve cornerback or a swing defensive back? Feel free to comment..

From years of watching Mel Kiper, Jr. and Todd McShay, I know for a fact that cornerbacks must have "hip swivel" and "burst". I can tell that Colin Jones has neither, just by looking at a picture of him. He must be a fullback or tight end.

After years of languishing on special teams (with the 49ers and the Panthers), the blazing fast safety, Colin Jones, really made a name for himself on defense last season. He played safety and nickel/dime cornerback and always performed well whilst displaying noticeable speed and quickness. With Thomas DeCoud gone, Ourlads.com has Jones listed as the backup to former 4[SUP]th[/SUP] round pick, Tre Boston. Boston ran a 4.59-second 40 and Jones ran a 4.39-second 40. Regardless, he’ll likely factor in should Boston get injured again. A writer over at “PantherLair” discusses the Panther secondary for 2015 and gives Jones very little respect…

Colin Jones is a guy the Panthers keep trying to replace on the roster but he keeps sticking.

Translation – He may be bigger, faster, and stronger than our black DB’s, but his skin is simply too light to start for this team.
