You would think so but Provodnikov and Juan Urango basically fought with a similar style and both won world titles and Seldin has better foot speed than either fighter ever had. I will say this guys with his all action style usually don't last long as brawling on the inside ages fighters.
Also his personal story drops the viewer back to the time of Jews in America before they dominated corporate boardrooms and caused economic calamities on Wall St. His grandfather was probably the last of the Jewish tough guy gang members from the Bedford Stuyverson neighborhood that produced Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe.

Who was Seldin's grandfather? Seldin is the first Jewish guy I ever heard of named Cletus. Marciano did pretty good with that style.
Bed Stuy and Brownsville, Brooklyn - places I knew all too well - were Jewish neighborhoods before they became reduced to ******* hellholes - the mezuzzas still remained by many doors. They were the neighborhoods - Brooklyn and the Bronx - where poor Jews moved to get away from the teeming lower east side tenements and move up in the world. And before that Brooklyn was beautiful. I read an internet story that his grandfather was a member of a defunct motorcycle gang based out of Bed-Stuy. If you want to a historical fiction piece on the various ethnic gangs in New York the Wanderers is a great 2 hours to spend doing this.....

I grew up in Inwood on the north end of Manhattan island not far from Fordham Rd. in the Bronx which was the big shopping street back then featuring Alexanders department store...and across the street was the recruiting booth where i waddled in once and accidentally joined the navy. In elementary school, PS 98, every now and then a rumor would spread that the Fordham Baldies (fictitiously featured in that movie) were going to attack us after school. The kids who went to the nearby Good Shepherd Catholic school told me they were terrorized by the same rumor. The way i heard it the Baldies were a gang of negroes with shaven heads who came up from Harlem, but no one ever set eyes on an actual Baldy. I think there really was a gang by that name in earlier years. Thankfully i never saw one. The guy who would know, a highly intelligent friend of mine, Jim T, knew a lot about those uptown gangs from the rough earlier days, including first hand knowledge because be was a brawler and gang member himself. Sadly he is no longer with us. He passed away about six months ago. He was a real interesting guy, a young inwood lowland plug ugly, he became the mayor of a town in New Mexico and also held various government and private positions in Latin America and i don't even know what else he did. He was a terrific witer. I know that. One of the last times i heard from him he sent me a photo of himself with the boxer Alexis Argello who was a friend of his.

No from what I have read the Fordham Baldies were a real ethnic Irish gang from the Bronx, they probably disbanded when the Fordham area of the Bronx became overwhelmingly Black around the time period of this movie.

Inwood and Fordham Rd was still all White when I grew up in Inwood. Inwood, northern Inwood anyway, was predominantly Irish but also other white groups. You are probably right about them being an ethnic Irish gang. Jim T told me about them once but I forgot what he said now. What you just said I think.

Seldin was exposed last night. I remember a few posters commented on his lack of a jab would probably be his downfall. It looked like it was against the better technical fighter on Saturday night.
Seldin should call Kevin Rooney(if he still trains fighters), Rooney was the most renowned trainer of the style that Mike Tyson perfected. The last time I saw him in the ring with any fighter of note was the tail end of the career of Vinny Pazienza who late in his career fought this style because of his short stature when he fought at 168 pounds.

I thought something was fishy all along. Here's this 31 year old with 17 pro fights (after a 3 fight amateur career) against mediocre opponents and he's on an HBO card. I'd like to know the full story there.
The guy that beat him was trying not to laugh at Seldin's bobbing a weaving from ten feet away.
I would suggest Seldin train for MMA. He is strong and athletic and his wrestling and marshal arts background would help him there. It does him no good for boxing.

I didn't know he was fighting again so soon. Couldn't Seldin get inside? Was the schwartze too fast? Did you see the fight? Ulysse is one of the millions of Haitian "refugees" they are using to destroy Quebec.
Seldin is as slow as a tractor. Ulysse dropped him twice with counters and ran, ran, ran. Seldin needs to go to school, but at his age it's no use as he can only fight stationary fighters.
That would be me regarding his lack of a jab. LOL

Seldin looked impressive in his fight before this one but I hadn't really heard of him prior to that. After checking his resume it looks ok, but he hasn't really fought any names and he probably would have a hard time cracking into the top echelon of contenders. I agree with the above recommendation to look into MMA. He is no doubt a strong guy and has movement that would be well suited for it in my opinion.
