Jay Bruce has been on a HR-binge of late, and leads the NL with 12 HRs. (Prince Fielder has 11 HRs)

--Joey Votto has been hitting for average.

--Edinson Volquez has been sent down to Triple-A. It looks like he was indeed roiding afterall..

This is an interesting team to follow. They have struggled some, and, from this point, they could go up or down... just stating the obvious because it's hard to pinpoint really.

When the Reds and Cardinals brawled last season,it was reported that Johnny Cueto kicked catcher Jason LaRue repeatedly in the head at the bottom of the pile,LaRue recieved a concussion and has retired from baseball, had the situation been reversed,LaRue would have been banned from baseball, and charged with a hate crime.

You are probably right, LabMan. St. Louis went into a big slump after that brawl. They are doing pretty well this season so far, 3.5 games ahead of the Reds.

Jay Bruce continues his monster play! Cinci beat the Brewers.

The 2012 version of the Reds starts 8 of 9 Whites and has 17 of 25 White men on the roster (like the Mets). Here's there usual lineup with ages:

2B - Brandon Phillips (30)
SS - Zach Cozart (26)
1B - Joey Votto (28)
3B - Scott Rolen (37)
RF - Jay Bruce (25)
LF - Chris Heisey (27) or Ryan Ludwick (33)
CF - Drew Stubbs (27)
C - Ryan Hanigan (31) or Devin Mesoraco (23)

P - 4 of 5 starters are White

Their racial breakdown is almost a carbon image of the Mets, including the majority of the key players being on the good side of 30 years old. They have a very good shot of winning the NL Central this season.

Freethinker,

They have a very good shot of winning the NL Central this season.

With Votto on the DL, they are doing big-time damage! At this moment, the Pirates are the closest threat to them.

The Reds' got a hard-fought win over the Pirates yesterday. In the NL Central, they are now up by 5.5 games over the Pirates.

I saw the Nationals play today and they started 7 whites and 2 white-ish Hispanics.

Cincinnati has reached 80 wins, an ML-best, and they lead the NL Central by 8 games. Go Reds!

Sounds like Cincy is a candidate for increased diversity. :afro:

Reds, who usually start 7 (or more whites) are starting 6 non-whites today:

Most of these guys will not be on the team or play much come the post-season -- they are merely standard September call-ups. But make no mistake about it, this team that is predominately white right now will be an "aberration" going forward, as there is no doubt they will be "expected" to diversify their roster by next spring.
