I seem to recall Hession saying he trained in Jamaica with either Bolt and friends or Asafa and friends and he said he was too pooped out to keep up after a few weeks. Now there is no way that people of predominate West African ancestry have better stamina than Europeans(on average). This phenomenal emergence of speed endurance that various runners have suddenly exhibited is because of something that dormant poster Harold has eluded to. PED's in sprinting always helped anerobic capabilities but until around the late 90's weren't doing much for aerobic capabilities and recovery. Now sprinters take the same endurance drugs that middle and long distance drug cheats take.

Ps. Christophe has regressed in the 100 but I am not too sure he has regressed in the 200, what he shows in Beijing will tell us where he is this year as his times have been all over the place in terms of his chances to make a final in the 100 or medal in the 200.

Its the hot humid climate...Lemaitre should train in South Florida for a good three months or more. The Hot Humid climate wears you down, but it will get you stronger... plus muscles like heat and humidity, they are able to expand and contract much more fully with greater force, unlike cold conditions which cause a defense mechanism to shut the muscle down so as not to injure it. this is basic 101 that RCSMAN and Master Jedi Carraz know nothing of.

PS: He has regressed in both the 100 and 200.

Ill say, not bad for Lemaitre, he looked good...but you had to add the injury in there, the injury is insignificant and no reason for his time. If he runs sub 20 in the 200, that would be great. Stop with the excuses.

EXCUSE ? you're so ignorant

injury is insignificant ? injury = 3 weeks before french championship
injury = 2 weeks without sprint

By far Christophes best 100 race of the season and with little wind. Very good result. I was expecting a time a little slower than that. This should help his confidence. It would have taken a miracle to beat Vicaut as he is in peak shape. Nice race by Lemaitre.

Excited to see what he can do over 200 meters. Hope he keeps his title. I'm pretty sure he will at that distance.

his first 50M is good but his last 50M is not.

Christophe is not totally ready, he can run faster in his last 50M

I do agree with you on todays race. He looked sharp coming out of the blocks. Great reaction time and a good drive phase. Not great but good enough to give him a chance to win.

His fading in the last 50 meters could be a combo of lack of training and also him tightening up a little. He knew Vicaut was coming. I don't think he was as loose and relaxed as usual over the final half of the race. Overall I'm very happy with todays race. He has a long ways to go but that's the fastest he has run in quite a while. Great to see. Congrats on taking 2nd. It's been a tough several years and I'm hoping he can still close out the final couple of months on fire!

EXATLY, vicaut is very relax, not Christophe, it's like french championship in 2013, Christophe had ran 10.19 with very bad last 50M.

1 month later, in Moscou, christophe ran 10.00 with a big finish.

Today with a correct finish, for him, christophe could run sub 10.

With a good start like in this race, today, christophe will run sub 10 this year

Hey RCSMAN,

I agree.
I think that Christophe has changed his starting technique a little bit.
Am I right?

not really.

In 2011, Christophe was carefree, spontaneous during his start, and he ran fast in first 50M, in last years he thought too much about his running technique during its starts, and he ran slower, this year he decided to not more thought about his technique during his start, and his start is better

sorry for my bad english

The Reason Vicaut looks relaxed is because Vicaut and his coach knows he is the best and can challenge anyone including Bolt, Gatlin etc.... Lemaitre has a coach who ruined his subconscious by telling him to strive for third place that he cannot beat the top guys, that he should accept reality. This is nuts!...This is a major difference, more so than the physical training. Lemaitre has mental confident issues in the back of his mind.

[h=2]French championships: 2nd on 100 m in 10″07[/h] July 12, 2015 at 9 h 59 min

After two weeks with a muscle injury, Christophe Lemaitre didn’t know his shape level before coming to Villeneuve d’Ascq, for the French championships. Saturday for his first races, he’s been reassured: he won his heat on 100 m in 10â€22 and finished 2nd in the final in 10″07, the French standard to go to the World championships, behind a strong Jimmy Vicaut (9″92).
A good result for Christophe, who was stopped this season by this muscle injury in Cheboksary, the 21th of June, during the European Team Athletics championships.
« I’m happy to prove I’ve got the level to go to the World championships on 100 m. I’ve found championships feelings. It’s not yet pefect but it’s a pleasure », explains Christophe to the Dauphiné Libéré.
« It feels good, a nice race without optimal preparation and only one real sprint training session. I find again my feelings in race », he said to Le Progrès.
Today, it’s the 200 m. Christophe is the favourite. « My goal is the title. If I run well, I can approach the 20″00. »

FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP

200M (wind 0.6)

1. LEMAITRE 20.28
2. VICAUT 20.42

the 100 time is satisfactory, the 200 not so much...he should of been under 20.20 with ease. This is scary. He may not even make the finals of the 200 in Bejing. Dam you Carraz, Dam you

Good time for Lemaitre in 100, 10.07 is in way for to be around 10.00 in WC
And with that time the final is possible.

In 200 is very good 20.28, because he made 2 series 100 and 2 series 200 in 24h and he is always fatigued when he makes it.

He will be for 10.0 and sub20 probably in Beijing :icon_tongue:

Explain to me why Lemaitre is keeled over and very winded after all his races? Why is so always fatigued to the point of collapse? Is he running with one Lung?

To be fair Vicaut looked way more tired. He was laying on the track forever gasping for breath.

The time wasn't great but Lemaitre won. Who else do we have other than Gemeli that can have any chance of a medal. Lemaitre is still the best we have. I will stay behind him regardless of who the coach is.

Some comments about Lemaitre from the posters at Track and Field News who are not as obsessed with Lemaitre as we are:

"Lemaitre never could start. Look at the video. He has the best reaction of the field but his mechanics are helpless. Shortest first stride + I doubt he even stretches his front leg out of the blocks, might as well not use blocks. He comes out way too high. It seems he belongs to the school that thinks the best starter is the one who clears the blocks first."

"
Not even so much describing his physique since we know he's a slim, lanky guy without great levers but his poor start and acceleration point to being very deficient in terms of strength/power. I have no idea what his lifts, multi throws or short jump tests might be but I'll bet based upon being relatively poor in that phase of his race that he has a lot of room for improvement in this area."
