Brief run-down:
He was brought up in the John Kuhn thread. He has kind of gone below the radar even here at caste football. He played at Winona State (D-2) in Minnesota and grew up in Green Bay. He was cut by the packers and is now scratching for a job with the Eagles. In the last preseason game with the Eagles, he caught a pass for 67 yards. I believe last year he lead the nation in recieving yards and recieving touchdowns (22). Nominated for the Halon Hill trophy (D-II equivalent of the Heisman). Big, strong, fast, and smart. Here are some of his workout stats:
6'3" 215 lbs
WINONA STATE senior wide receiver CHRIS SAMP has drawn additional interest from Green Bay... he had a private workout with them recently... ran 4.53 in the 40... 4.13 short shuttle... 7.09 three-cone... 36.5" vertical... 27 reps of 225 pounds... weighed 6026, 226 pounds... also worked out at Wisconsin's Pro Day... ran 4.52 in the 40... 4.15 short shuttle... 7.12 three-cone... 37" vertical... 27 reps of 225 pounds... scored 32 on his Wonderlic... Jacksonville, Green Bay and Pittsburgh have all shown additional interest.
Note: Looks like his weight has gone from 215 to 226lbs. Any guess what position the NFL wants him at???
and more:
Samp, a senior from Algoma, Wisc., helped take Winona State to a 10-1 regular-season record and into the Division II playoffs. He ranks second in the nation in receiving yards per game (132.1), ninth in scoring (11.5) and 19th in receptions per game (6.5). He caught 74 passes for 1,454 yards and 22 touchdowns. He caught at least one pass in 40 consecutive games and had a TD reception in 19 straight games. His 53 career TD receptions ranks third in DII history and seventh all-time in all divisions. His 4,471 career receiving yards is second best in Division II history and eighth in all divisions.
Second Best in D-II History!!!!!!!
Graduated from a Green Bay High School. Not allowed to get a sniff of a chance with home town packers!!!!
