I agree strongly with examples 1-6 and 9&10. I think the Falcons proved themselves to be very resistant to early trade offers for Schaub by demanding a 1st rounder IIRC and I do believe Mike Furrey is better suited to the slot position in a team that frequently employs a 3 WR set. Otherwise I agree whole-heartedly with your top ten list although I would maybe change the ordering a little bit. Lumsden not getting any sniff of interest from another team is completely inexcusable.Edited by: jared

Doak Walker award winner (the award forthe top running back in all of college football), Luke Staley dropped all the way to the 7th Round of the NFL Draft, supposedly due to "his injury problem."


NONE of his injuries were as devastating as the one McGahee endured, yet Willis went in the first round and was given ample time to heal. meanwhile, Staley was discarded after he didn't fully recover from a broken ankle by training campand tweaked his knee in pre-season.


also, Adrian PetersonBROKE HIS OWNcollarbone twice without being hit by another player (not to mention all his other various injuries in his short career at Oklahoma), and was still picked early in the first round.


seems reasonable. not.

the list of white athletes that have been snubbed is so long, that it would be hard to pick just 10... you have quite a nice list, C Darwin. here's another one that doesn't include ANY of the same white men, although the caste system has treated them just as harshly. in no particular order:


1. Brandon Heaney, cornerback BYU. a 5'11" 185lbs. corner for the Cougars was recently named MVP of the Las Vegas All-American Classic clocked a 4.37 sec. 40 Yard Dash. It did not stop there, he had a37" vertical jump, 9'10" broad jump, clocked a 3.91 sec. short shuttle. was not drafted, and never played a snap.



2. John Standeford, wide receiver Purdue. Big Ten's all-time leading receiver has been jerked around by the Indianapolis Colts for the last three years before finally being released in the final cut of the '07 pre-season.



3. Chase Lyman, wide receiver Cal. blessed with great size (6-2, 217) and explosiveness (4.46 40, 34-inch vertical), Lyman averaged 29.6 yards per catch in his injury-shortened final season at Cal. for his career, he averaged over 20 yards per catch. undrafted, and never saw NFL action despite fully recovering from knee injuries. also, the 4.46 40 was AFTER his second knee injury had fully healed.



4. Dustin Fox, cornerback Ohio State. a 6-0 corner with 4.4 speed and a 40-inch vertical, Fox was a 4-year starter for Ohio State University and was considered their top cover man as a sophomore on its '02 National Championship team. has been screwed by the NFL since being drafted in the 3rd round in '05.



5.Chas Gessner, wide receiver Brown. arguably the top receiver in Ivy League history, the 6-5 Gessner has wallowed in NFL purgatory since 2003 despite being praised by the Tampa Bay coaching staff each pre-season that he is virtually uncoverable.



6. Nick Hartigan, tailback Brown. arguably the best running back in Ivy League history, Hartigan was also the Academic All-American of the Year after his senior season in which he led the nation in rushing and scoring. despite winning most every award imaginable at the collegiate level, Hartigan was completely ignored by the NFL.



7. Kevin Kasper, wide receiver Iowa. Left as Iowa's all-time leader in receptions for a game, a season, and a career after joining the team as a walk-on. He also was a three time academic All Big Ten Selection and was named MVP of the team. After setting three all-time NFL combine speed records and led the AFC in kick return average for most of the year as a rookie and started 5 games, but was released and bounced around the league despite looking phenomenal whenever given an opportunity. alas, those opportunities were very few and he is now out of the NFL.



8. Lane Danielsen, wide receiver Iowa State. left ISU as the best-ever Cyclone receiver and considered by opposing coaches as the toughest player they ever faced. ran a 4.53 40 and bench-pressed over 400 pounds, but STILL wasn't a good enough physical specimen to warrant a look by the NFL.



9. Chance Kretschmer, tailback Nevada. only the second-ever freshman to lead the NCAA Division 1 (Marshall Faulk also did it), Chance was a standout both before and afer a knee injury. the NFL forced him to bulk up to be a "fullback" and then discarded him before ever giving him a chance to play.



10. Chris Kern, cornerback Mount Union. a multiple first-team All-American and three-time National Champion at Division III Mount Union, Kern ran a 4.41 and a 4.37 for pro scouts at his Pro Day. after going un-drafted, he showcased big-play ability in NFLEurope, but still never got the chance to ply his wares in the NFL.

1. Roger "the Rabbit" Robinson, tailback Northern Arizona. the fastest running back available in the 2005 NFL Draft (he ran a 4.36 40, had a 40.5-inch vertical, and benched 225-pounds 23 times), the Rabbit went completely undrafted. he then went on to shatter all the rushing records in the now-defunct NFLEurope. he is nowhere to be seen on the NFL viewscreen...



2. Trevor Insley, wide receiver Nevada. holds the NCAA Division I-A records for career receiving yards (5,005), most 200 yard receiving games (6), most 100 yard receiving games (26), and is ranked third in career receptions (298). he holds single season records for receiving yards (2,060 as a senior) and yards per game (187.3 as a senior). still went un-drafted. went to NFLEurope where he was the leading receiver until he broke his ankle in week 6. still holds the NFLEurope record for longest punt return. broke his right ankle in a pre-season game the fall of the same year, and never got the chance to play again.


3. Derek Abney, wide receiver Kentucky. the owner of 5 NCAA Div-1A, 11 SouthEastern Conference, and 14 school records for kick returns. the first player in NCAA Div-1A history with over 2,000 receiving yards, 2,000 kick-off return yards, and 1,000 punt return yards. incredibly quick AND fast (3.93 in the 20-yard shuttle and 4.37 in the 40), Abney was drafted in the 7th round of the '04 Draft and bounced around the league but never saw action in a regular season game.


4. Troy Bergeron, didn't play a down of college football but is currently destroying Arena League secondaries. the youngest player to ever play in the AFL, Bergeron was the Offensive Rookie of the Year in '05, where he set a new league record for receiving yards. ran a 4.37 40 for Atlanta Falcons scouts who invited him to training camp as an undrafted rookie free agent, but cut him for some no-talent black bums.


5.Travis McGriff, wide receiver Florida.barely got a sniff of NFL action after roasting all-black secondaries as a senior with the Gators. in 11 games as a senior he has 70 catches for 1357 yards and 10 TDs... after riding the pine for the Broncos for 3 years before getting cut, he went on to be the Rookie of the Year in the AFL in '03.


6. Dan Sheldon, wide receiver Northern Illinois. a record-setting return man for the Huskies, Sheldon was amongst the nation's leaders in both returns and yards per catch during his collegiate career. as a senior he led the nation in yards per catch (23.4 per) and led the nation in punt return average as a sophomore in '02. was kicked around NFL purgatory for years, but has never has seen game action.


7. Nate Soelberg, cornerback BYU. you want to talk about speed? he has it. with a personal best of 10.58 in the 100 meters and 23-00.75 in the long jump, Nate is about as explosive as they come. incredibly raw froma technical standpoint, he was still one of the top corners in the country, and definitely one of the fastest, the 6-0 corner ran a reported 4.2 40 for pro scouts, but has never been listed as slower than a 4.39. still went un-drafted and never saw any NFL action.


8. R.J. Bowers. tailback Grove City College. left college as the all-time rushing yardage leader in NCAA history. an old-school running fullback at 6-0, 245-pounds, Bowers didn't have blazing speed but he did have everything else an NFL runner needs. balance, vision, agility, strength, and stamina. went un--drafted but manage to get 18 carries as a rookie for the Steelers, earning 84 yards and a touchdown for an impressive 4.7 average. he was even called a "playmaker" by his black teammates after running over perennial Pro-Bowler Jerry Porter in practice. his reward? cut and cut again.


9.Brian Shay, tailback Emporia State. the previous NCAA_rushing record holder before Bowers broke it, Shay was "too small" at 5-9, 208-pounds. Shay rushed for 75 yards while leading his team to victory in the Senior Bowl (a collegiate all-star game of Top Division I talent). he spent some time on the Chiefs practice squad after looking impressive in NFLEurope, but that was it.


10. Josh Ranek, tailback South Dakota State. after dominating at South Dakota State, Ranek ran a 4.49 40 and benchpressed 225-pounds 30 times for the Cleveland Browns, but they said he was "too short." he then got jerked around for two worthless days in a Cowboys training camp before going to the CFL where he became the most dominatn all-around back in the league.

Absolutely fantastic lists guys. I am familiar with some of these guys but not others. Brian Shay should have been given a shot. Too short. What about Warrick Dunn? He is 5-9 as well. Dunn was made out to be a superman when he was drafted so this should be expected. I have one example of a local kid, Ray Van Peenan. Best back in the state two years ago. Guess where he is now? Walk on at Rutgers.

Thanks for putting these lists together guys, its nice to have an all inclusive post to reference when trying to argue the caste system to people. How could so many ultra talented, record breaking white athletes be completely shunned over the piss poor talent on most of the NFL teams today. This has to be the clearest case of discrimination in modern sports.

And Mcnabb has the audacity to speak of the unfair treatment of black QBs

great lists, guys. for me top caste upsets were Lumsden, Staley (although to be honest i don't know just how fit he was after he dealt with all the injuries), Gessner, Standeford and Alstott, who could have easily had 10k + rushing yards and 80 TDs.

realistically, i'd say that 90% of white WRs, RBs, DBs and even some linebackers and linemen were harmed by the system. some of them less than others (Stokley, Curtis who at least could/can compete) but even great TEs have to share their spotlight with mediocre or past their prime black WRs... imagine the productionof Jason Witten if it wasn't for Owens and some others... he would be a 1K+, 10 TD kind of a guy... imagine Curtis starting for Rams... imagine Heath Evas or Rob Conrad running the ball full time... how about Mike Hass not wasting away at least 2 seasons with Bears and actually playing for Saints when they drafted him...
almost every white player at many positions was treated unjustly at least at some point of their careers.

oh, and i was going to mention Dustin Fox, but he just got signed to Bills practice squad, and what's a better team to be on if you are a white cornerback?

JC, you bring great information to the forum as always.

One thing I noticed from nfldraftscout.com was that Dustin Fox had a 43.5 vertical at the combine, but was only listed at a 40 inch vertical like Jimmy said from his NFL.com profile.

Fox and Kevin Kasper were the 4th and 5th best verticals in the archives of the website going back to the 1999 NFL Combine. The top leap was saftey Gerald Sensabaugh at 46 inches. Fox ran a 4.45 40 yard at the NFL combine which would be around average for "starting" NFL CBs, by my research. Fox is better than most of the blacks that currently start in the NFL w/o a doubt in my mind.

Also if Kasper has the 3 cone combine record at 6.56, Hass is very close behind from his Pro Day 3 cone. Hass performed much better at his Pro Day than the Combine where he clocked a 6.59 3 cone, a 4.50, 4.58, 4.58 40 yard and registered a 36.5 inch vertical..and they say Hass is a poor athlete.
