Always in a big move up fight like this the big question is Plant's chin. Canelo will test it early and a poor grade will nullify all of Plant's boxing skills very quickly.

Hope Plant can give a good account and make up for those Brits Alvarez has been feasting on.

with his dad and sibling. They were about as poor as you can be without being homeless. It game a young Caleb reason to strive to be the best at something to get
himself and his family out of the trailer parks and poverty. Win or lose tonight he is gonna get paid 10 million dollars. So happy for the kid. A win tonight would
be considered one of the biggest upsets in many, many years. I like Alvarez but really want to see Caleb win and win big. It's unlikely but you never know!

Plant is a naturally larger man than Saunders so if the chin can take Alvarez's power he can extend this fight as his skill set is similar to Saunders. His game plan for winning would be to box and intelligently brawl with Alvarez when he has to and then go back to boxing. He can do this but it's easier said then done, since Alvarez moved up from 154 nobody but Golovkin has had any success doing this beyond spurts.

Also like GGG even if he pulls a rabbit out of a hat will the judges give him a decision in a close fight? They did Golovkin no favours...

No he was legitimately tko'd, if you watch his walk back to the locker room he was walking very gingerly.

As for the fight the turning point was the 5th round, his training team should have screamed at Plant to win the 6th round to make Alvarez have to fear counters or combos. After the 6th round it seemed like Alvarez was in steamroller mode and took maybe the 9th off to recharge the battery.

Golovkin's power kept Alvarez honest but nobody else in this weight range has that kind of power. At 175 Bertebiev does and that could be one bite of the apple too many for Alvarez.

I felt the scoring was around 7 to 3 Alvarez as Plant was giving too much ground after the 4th round and not landing enough. As for the ko Mora saved Plant from a brutal ko he was trying to rise from the second knock down. Wilder was out when Fury dropped him violently in the 11th round.

No, of course Canelo has all the bias towards him but there was no staged WWE KO.

No offense but that sounds a little like something that Fury haters would come up with, in fact I think that they will say that since many of the same people hating Fury also hate Canelo with a passion, so much so that they are vicariously living through the white Caleb Plant they have taken in as an honorary black in hope of an upset.

Or they will completely poo-poo Caleb and say that a black fighter would beat Canelo.

I was seeing Canelo hit gloves a lot (with some good punches getting through) while more of Caleb's punches got through, but I guess you could have Canelo winning on aggression.

Thanks brother for sharing! Even though he didn’t win, we are all still proud of him. His story is one of perseverance through tremendous hardship. Our enemies don’t want to acknowledge that their are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Whites who grow up poor and disadvantaged. However, these monsters will say Caleb and his sister had privilege, even when crammed up in that 1 bedroom trailer. Then tell us how hard blacks have it, even ones who grow up wealthy beyond belief, like LeBrown James’ children for example.

It's funny how some turds on boxing forums won't class canelo as white even though he clearly is (goes without saying).. You get some really dumb bizzare coments like a Nigerian guy on ESB called Olu G Otimi wrote ' canelo isnt white despite his ginger hair, hes Latino'. I pointed out to him his comment is as stupid as saying Rigondeaux isn't black, and Latinos obviously aren't a race.. they are of any race, he didn't respond lol. These anti-white people will clutch at any little straw to claim someone isn't white lol. And, fighters who have any tiny drop of black blood they claim them as black.

Never watched Plant much other than some highlights. Almost everyone expected him to lose early or mid fight. He was never going to win on any scorecard, and if he thought he didn't have the power, or the timing to land the power, than going to the distance would have been a win for him. Having power is one thing, but landing it against the most feared coutner-puncher in boxing is another. Had Plant thrown his hardest Canelo probably would have put him to sleep in an embarassing highlight clip shown for decades. Plant could have gone the distance but as it was he did not use his legs to run out the clock he was having so much success with his side-stance. Was quite surprised how good Plant was -especially his ability to completely make void Canelo's right hand. Saunders is a boxing wizard and he suffered a much worse loss to Canelo. In my view Plant's stock has actually risen from this fight and also his confidence. Plant can now retreat knowing he made the best army in the world search for him for almost a complete fight.

Canelo makes me smile; he is happy when he wins but does not mock or gloat. At the end of the fight Plant offered a truly genuine apology to Canelo for his pre-fight trash talking and Canelo in kind received his apology with genuine acceptance. There are how many who will not apologize for their ill chosen words, and as many who will not accept an apology. What a pair of good sports! Canelo needs no further praise, he is more the master every ring he betters a challenger in.
