He was probably the biggest star in Hollyweird in the late 70's through early 80's and was famous for his moustache and manly charisma.

I found a Summerall and Madden banter about Reynolds and his football ability......

I saw him doing some 30 minute infomercial recently and was shocked by how old he looked. Apparently he managed his money poorly and more or less felt forced to do the huckstering when it would have been better to stay in secluded retirement and die of old age. He was a unique actor with a lot of charisma and alpha charm. RIP

For years the dwindling supermarket tabloids had an unofficial death watch for Reynolds and I knew of his bankruptcy and financial problems through the various headlines as I stood in line to pay for the items I bought.

I could never figure out what was real or imagined but I too noticed how feeble he looked in the last few years and in his last major movie he had a cane for his part as a Jewish former university football star who played at Tennessee and then went on and starred in the movies.

The myth about his football abilities, probably put FSU on the recruiting map back in the early days of Massah Bowden as those FSU teams previously were generally ACC doormats. I think besides Deon Sanders he might be the second most famous alumni of the team.....

He was 82, I read that his only surviving immediate family member was a kid he adopted. He was married at least 6 times and kept the company of many women. But no kids?

Florida State was NOT a doormat in the 1960's. Bill Peterson as coach had a winning record. They were all white with a pass oriented offense and stars like Steve Tensi, Fred Biletnikoff, and Ron Sellers.

A man's man, and actor who projected straight white alpha male swagger with a sense of humor. His performance in the classic Deliverance was off the charts. He once said of his performance in that movie, "after viewing that film, I proved to myself I could really act." RIP man, not many like you now.

I imagine he had a few bastards. If not, then he must have been sterile.

I suspect if he had a few bastards, they would have come out of the woodwork years ago.

He may have had difficulties having children and he had marriages to fellow movie stars who generally don't want children as the minute they take years off the industry they are quickly forgotten about and cast aside.

Aw gee. I once met someone who knew him personally. She said he was a very nice guy. He was great in Deliverance...

Starting at 0:45.

Back when Fox had a legible scoreboard bug.
