SPOILER ALERT</font>

I watched the final eight or so rounds of this fight after watching the UFC Finale.

Brock won a UD in a boring fight. The two were averaging about 15-20 punches per round, grabbing each other, with a very low punch output.

Neither one of these two were impressive at all. I don't think either of them could take Brewster, Wlad, Lyakhovich, Valuev, Peter,...

And LOL @ all the Brock nuthuggers who describe this guy as articulate and charismatic. He is dry as dirt and has to pause after every second or third syllable every time he opens his mouth.

And why do they mention that Brock has a degree in finance every time they say his name? I know the announcers would mention occasionally that both of the Klitschko brothers have PhD's and speak five languages, but they don't seem to receive nearly the same kind of publicity for their education and brilliance that Brock does for having a Bachelor's degree.

Well, so much for Timid Imbackinoff. I know Eastern European heavyweights are all the rage lately, but this is one too many. Decent jab, a right that takes too long to get there, and not much else. Reminds me of the British invasion, when anyone with a British accent who could hold a guitar was making records. But, they still had the Beatles and the Stones, and we still have Klitchko and Lahakovich, both of whom would baste either of these two turkeys.
They kept saying Brock was the best American. I don't think so. Put him in with Brewster and we'll see.
As for Timid, he still has a good career ahead of him. As a dance instructor.

Neither fighter showed much aggressiveness or will to win. It's obvious that Brock is being "sold" to the viewing public. He does not deserve to be ranked the #9 heavyweight above others like Maskaev (#15) who would annihilate this guy. He will likely fall in the rankings as a result of this lackluster showing.

Too bad about Timur...he has skills but maybe not enough killer instinct.

Ibramigov fought like he was afraid of Brock. Either that or he was trying to fight like Klitschko but doesn't have the tools (size, jab, power) to do so. He wouldn't fight on the inside and couldn't fight on the outside. Not good.

Max Kellerman did his best Harold Lederman impersonation. He basically said that holding is a cop out. Perhaps that's true, but it's always the white fighters that get scolded for this, never black fighters like Hopkins.

On the bright side, Brock is not impressive. I agree with you guys that Klitschko would've dismantled him last night. Edited by: JD074

I have a few things on my mind regarding saturday nights heavyweight fight. Both fighters stunk up the house.I turned my set off after the 6th round.Timur disapointed me tremendously. He had no killer instinct and he fought like he was timid or just intimidated by Calvin brock. This is the same Timur who recently knocked out Shannon Briggs in sparring with headgear on.As far as Calvin Brock goes,he will never be heavyweight champ of the world, let alone beat a quality top 20 fighter.Wladimir Klitschko would have demolished Calvin Brock inside 3 rounds last night. Now also I would like to comment on the HBO commentary. One of the worst commentators since the crew from Showtime.Lennox Lewis needs to retire from color commentary like he did in boxing.Max Kellerman is a f**kin biased idiot.Who ever hired him should be lynched. As far as the the other guy goes,he is just there because of Affirmitive Action.Overall just a pathetic night for HBO boxing.

One of the worst fights I have ever stayed up to watch. I lost an hours worth of sleep waiting for it to end.

One interesting note from Kellerman. He made a vague comment to the effect that Brock looked like a natural 225 pounds while other heavyweights (Klitschko, et. al.) could be using performance enhancing methods to achieve their weights and body styles. He had no evidence at all, he just threw an allegation out there.
What an idiot!

I agree with Triad and Onewarrior5 about Kellerman. There's just something minor league about him. He was okay on ESPN, but he's out of his element on HBO. Also, his little jag about steroids came out of nowhere. He also claimed the best heavyweights are playing in the NFL. Maybe he's on to something. Who can forget the stellar boxing careers of Ed "Too Tall" Jones and Mark Gastineau? Kellerman, you're killin' me, man.

For Christ sakes, the world is filled with various black athletes who are OBVIOUSLY on steroids, while the Russians aren't.

Jeff Lacy has the most unnatural roided out body that I've ever seen on a boxer but nothing gets said about him.

I'm sure Rabbi Kellerman would assure you that he looks that way because of his superior African genetics.

You forgot Alonso Highsmith who combined the great elements of Too Tall and Gastineau, being musclebound and glass jawed....

If the best black athletes are choosing football over boxing, isn't it also true that the best white athletes are choosing football, baseball, hockey, and countless other sports over boxing? Nobody brings up the lack of participation among white Americans. How about that, Kellermansteinberg?

As for big heavyweights who "must" be using steroids, Briggs and Brewster are pretty big. Klitschko is very muscular, but Valuev isn't. He's just tall. Last time I checked steroids don't make you 7 feet tall.

Lyakhovich doesn't have an unnatural physique either.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that men with less than stellar phsyiques aren't using steroids. Look at James Toney.

Valuev does no strength training period. If he did he would be close to 400 pounds. I think Klitschko juices, we know Toney does/did, Rahman does(way to muscular, especially compared to his old physique),Brewster probably does and Golota definately did it. With boxing juicing doesn't help as much as people think as skills out weigh physicalness. Otherwise all of the heavyweight champions would be built like your average NFL player.........Edited by: white is right

Football sucking up the best HWs? Let me tell you the REAL story on that...

Football becomes the most popular American sport in the late 20th century. Football is played by big men (duh), but big men who can conceivably get into college. That leaves for HW boxing mostly for big men who are felons or too dumb to go to college even with the most "generous" scholastic leeway. This sound like what group in America? This, along with WWII, and massive post-War White American upward mobility out the conditions that produces boxers, effectively explains the near-desertion desertion of the HW division by Whites.

Fast forward to the early 20th century. The NFL becomes soooo anti-White discriminatory, not only with the ball-handling positions but even on the line, that the forcibly inject new White American blood into the White Rennaisance in boxing begun by hungry and un-intimidated Eastern Europeans

Holyfield looked juiced to me. Compare his physique as a cruiserweight to his build at heavyweight. As for Vladimir, well, that build, Communist bloc connections, Doctor of Sports Medicine, hmmmm...

I forgot about Evander, the only former cruiser that gained pure muscle as he went up. Most former cruisers gain fat or half and half, he was pure muscle. The typical build of guy moving up is what happened to Micheal Moorer or Jirov.....

I heard today that James "Bonecrusher" Smith (1980's) was the first heavyweight champion to have a college degree.

Vitaly failed a drug test in the Olympics, so it's not inconceivable that his little brother has taken them as well. But as long as there's no proof we don't have to believe that. And it's silly for Kellerman to say that HW's used to be 210 lbs. and now they're 250 lbs. (or whatever he said,) and blame that on steroids. HW's are so much taller now. Duh.

So if you're tall and muscular, we should be suspicious, but if you're short and muscular (Tyson, Holyfield, Roy Jones, Jeff Lacy,) you get a free pass? Come on Kellermansteinberg, get real!
