Garcia has been all but written off by the U.S. Caste media at the ripe old age of 27. Would be nice to see him win it.

Sergio looked REALLY comfortable out there today. If a choke was gonna happen, i wouldve thought it wouldve been on the 3rd day. To Sergio's credit, he held his own.
Easily, the best one round performance of the year was Strickers 64 on a course where the others were averaging 71'ish.
Woods looked like a fallen champion in the after round interviews. Could he be the one Player was talking about on the steroid issue? It seems like his body as gone thru significant change recently. That along with change in his hairline that was quickly receding up until last year, then made a miraculous recovery.
My predictions for tommorow?
1. Sergio will choke and score a 77 to put him at -3
2. Stricker will score a 74 to put him at -3
3. Chris Demarco or Jim Furyk will win the tournamament at -6.

Another thrilling major to watch and enjoy. I feel badly for Garcia, but he didn't lose it, Harrington's 67 gave him the opportunity to get to a playoff. Whoever lost was going to feel terrible though, given the way Harrington butchered 18 with a two-stroke lead.
I was rooting for Garcia, mainly to get the media's obsession with "the best player never to have won a major" off his back, but if Sergio had won, that mantle would most likely have passed to Harrington or Adam Scott. (I think we can safely forget about Monty ever winning one now lol). Great tournament, especially so because 98 percent of the TV shots and announcer bantering wasn't about The One.

Hey three cheers for an Irishman winning in Scotland!!! It was ugly but it was a win. I hope he wins many more.

Harrington had received permission from the European Tour to putt without his left shoe, on condition that he neither delays play when removing the shoe, nor stands on it when playing the ball.[2]. The golfer was claimed to be using this technique to help him put more weight through his left leg while practising. This decision was then overturned, ruling that he was not allowed to do it during tournament play.

3 majors down, one to go. Any year Tiger goes without winning a major helps to sow the seeds of doubt in his mind about whether he will break Jack's record. And it sows the seeds of hope in the other golfers about toppling him from his throne. Congrats to Padraig!

I was watching The Tiger Network,once known asThe Golf Channel, earlier tonight and they were really piling on Garcia. Sergio whined a bit after the Open, and that's all the media needed to go into sharkcircling mode, probably on a permanent basis until Garcia wins a major, same as was done to Mickelson. They even brought on a very "gay"-sounding psychologist to analyze Garcia's state of mind and relationship with the media. Sergio has publicly complained a couple of times in the past about Woods receiving undue media coverage as well as breaks from tournaments and tournament officials, so I expectSergio to now replace Colin Montgomery as the "foreigner" the media and fans love to pick on. Greg Norman-at age 53-is in the lead after 2 rounds.
I was watching a one-hour show of Norman's 1993 Open win the other night, in which he played brilliantly and wasn't victimized by self-inducedbad shotsor by miracle shots by any of his opponents. With less of both he would have easily won a half dozen majors and probably closer to double figures. It's incredible that he never won any of the three majors played on U.S. soil. He was my favorite player post-Nicklaus and what a story it would be if he can stay in contention.
Greg Norman was my favorite golfer, so it's quite a treat to see him back and playing in a major, let alone contending for the win. I think he would be the oldest winner of any major by far if he somehow pulls if off.
Like Don, I think Norman could have won a good number of majors with even an average amount of luck. For several years, he was in contention in just about every major. In 1986, he led all four majors going into the final round. It seemed like someone always came up big against him in the final round (unlike the immortal Woods, where no one ever comes up big against him).
The reason I started rooting for him was because I'd read where he was such a nice, decent guy. He was also just about the only golfer I've ever seen who refused to lean on his putter when picking his ball up from the green, as a courtesy to his fellow players (so it wouldn't cause any indentation that might effect their putt). Maybe Chris Evert is inspiring him....

Looks like I'm getting up at five in the morning tomorrow to watch Greg Norman collapse in a major one last time.
It would have to be one of the biggest upsets ever in any sport if he can win at the age of 53. He's been pretty much an afterthought for years, even on the senior tour.

I hope and pray he wins...he deserves it...and it would take a little of the spotlight off of Tiger.
Great performance by Padraig Harrington to defend his title. To shoot under par in the final roundin those hellish conditions is special. He played like a true champion, and by doing so and winning back to back he squashed all the talk about "asterisks" except among the most diehard Tiger lovers. That was the best possible outcome after a win by Norman.

I agree DW. too bad about norman...but this is the next best result. Harrington is a genuine multi-major champion. A tough irishman. He'll be another effective challenger to tiger. Now if only Phil can win the PGA.
