I know he isn't actually getting drafted until next year's draft but if you check a lot of the draft websites he's not only listed as a runningback in the nfl, but also as one of the top 5 backs eligible for the draft..pretty impressive

I still can't forget the run he had in his 2nd or 3rd game last season where he hurdled a guy and ran for a 70-80 yard touchdown. He looked like a high jumper on that play and man can this kid run. There was no way that anyone was going to catch him from behind.Let's root him on and hope that he can impress some nfl scouts with more than just his blocking skills!

Leonard runs too well for a huge back. He will be used as an Alstott or Nick Bell type back at the next level. That run was freaky........

Rob Konrad ran extremely well and never came close to being used like Alstott. The same kind of logic that turns Garrett Mills into a fullback/H-back instead of a wide receiver may be used against Leonard. He'll be "too good of a blocker and receiver" to be used as a running back. He'll be called a "tweener" as he already is but labeling him that way makes it easier to screw him. Looking at what happened to Konrad, Lumsden, Forsey, Chance Kretschmer,Luke Staleyand other talented running backs makes it very difficult to be optimistic about any white carrying the ball at all post-Alstott.

I hope not, but physically he is better than all those backs except maybe Konrad(Staley had bad knees). Konrad is a strange case he was drafted to be an Alstott clone/Csonka clone but he was literally never given the chance to carry the ball beyond scrub time, and even that was only early in his career........

When Konrad was drafted by the Dolphins, then head coach Jimmy Johnson gushed about how much Konrad reminded him of "Moose" Johnston, his fullback with the Cowboys. The only two things Konrad and Johnston had in common were that both were white and both played at Syracuse. Their running styles had nothing in common as Konrad was a great runner while Johnston just plowed ahead; and Konrad was a poor blocker while Johnston was a ferocious one. Johnston and Tom Rathman had become the prototypes of the "new" elite white fullback, players who blocked and caught passes but rarely ran the ball. Lesser fullbacks weren't even allowed to catch passes.

Jimmy Johnson looked at Konrad and all he could see was Moose Johnston, reminiscient of the old black complaint that whites think all blacks look alike. White coaches look at a white receiver and all they can see is Ricky Proehl no matter how different they are in everything but racial background. Same with white "fullbacks," all they see is someone to block for their black runner and catch an occasional swing pass. Edited by: Don Wassall
