When it comes to race Stalinism has replaced traditional Anglo-Saxon values. We did always have a puritan streak, but today it has been utilised by enemies within to undermine our societies. Instead of going after witches today we're going after "racists". When I lived in the UK in the 90s people there laughed at American political correctness. Now Britain is worse than just about everywhere except maybe Sweden.

It's amazing this lead all the way to a resignation. All from calling a guy a name in the heat of a game. The FA was just grandstanding to how wonderful they are. If Capello thought Terry being captain wasn't hurting the team, then he should have remained as captain. I wonder what Anton and Rio are thinking?

Stuart Pearce has been appointed as caretaker manager and will coach the team vs. the Netherlands …seems likely that Harry Redknapp will eventually take the helm of the national side. I can understand Capello’s reasoning and it's nice to see him sticking to his guns, though I guess that he may have been pressured into resigning, as England did not really exceed expectations under him (the 1:4 loss against Germany was especially disappointing from the perspective of the English fans). David Beckham has also expressed his support for Capello’s decision.
