Bobby Bowden claims to be a Christian, quoted as sayinig in the article linked to below as wanting his players on the Florida State team to be "saved," and adding, "The problem with us Christians is we won't speak out."

This is the same Bowden whofor a couple of decades now has recruitedonly blacksfor every position on the Seminoles except for kicker, QB and offensive line, and who almost fell over laughing when a reporter asked him if whites were capable of playing tailback. Doesn't sound very Christian to me, if Christianity is to mean, among other things, fairness in opportunity and treatment of individuals regardless of race. Of course, no one, Christian or otherwise, dares to "speak out" on the Caste System that Bowden so fervently adheres to when it comes to football.

Tis a curious kind of "Christianity" indeed which afflicts many Americans these days.

Don,

You are right, this is a strange form of Christianity. Bowden is correct when he says most won't speak out. The problem most Christians are strattling the fence and everyone knows that. You either have to be 100% sold out to Christ or not. God doesn't like luke warm Christians.

Tom Osborne claimed to be a Christian and he won national championships with teams that were very white.Dan Kendra went to Florida State to play for Bowden.Kendra was a great athlete who would have been better off had he gone to Penn State.

Doesn't Christianity believe in giving all people a fair shot and yet Bowden would never give a white kid a shot at anything besides K, P, QB, and O-line. What a hypocrite! That's why I really admire a coach like Jim Tressell for having a white CB for 3 years and a mostly white D during his tunure at OSU. Jim T lets the kids play and who ever the best plays that position regrardless of race. I really do not like Bowden that much and his time is almost up on the sidelines. Thank God.

Bowden is about as much a Christian as Slick Willie. He is a fake and a phony and gives Christians and Baptists a bad name. Trust me guys when I tell you that I seriously doubt his salvation. A lot of people think joining a church or being baptized at some point will save you. I got new for you, it won't. The Bible says it won't. I also do not believe the US is a Christian nation anymore. We have turned our backs on God and we are suffering for it. Okra63 is right about straddling the fence. According to the Bible, you can't have one foot in the world and one foot in heaven. That's not Christianity. Bowden is right on one thing though. Christians don't speak out enough, if they did, Bowden wouldn't be in the church anymore, he would have been excommunicated. If Christians would stand up for God, this world would see a lot of change.

God want us to be 100% sold out to him. No one knows a person's salvation except God. The only way people can tell is by the fruit of their lives. Bowden's fruit looks have ruined!!!!! He could be a Christian, but just have "fire" insurance.

What scripture is this based on?

Good question Great Lake State. The only answer I can give you is Luke 6:31 or Matthew 7:12, which is the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This implies fairness. Of course the Bible talks about honesty a lot, and treating your neighbor fairly. Nothing about race in there though, although it is meant to be applied to everyone.

Is Bowdeneven a decentChristian?

Last yearhe lost his son and Grandson in a horrific car accidentand Bowden was right back at coaching footballl imeaditately after the accident. Most people could not do that, maybe he is strong and maybe he sees football more important than his own family, I for one just don't know. But out of respect for my family I would stay with my family and be strong for them in this time of need. His football team does not need him. His family does!

As for Dan Kendra, Bowden called him one of the best white players he ever saw. Bowden even went on to say that the incrediably athletic Kendra was almost as good as his black athletes. (These comments can be found in a Sports Illustrated from the mid 1990s, all about the disappering white athelete) Kendra played QB his Fr year, but he got hurt in Spring of his sophmore year. Bowden Threw Kendra off the Qb squad and gave him a job as backup fullback. Had Kendra been given a chance at QB FSU might of had yet another championship.

Speaking of Christians, Dan Kendra gave his life to Christ during his sophmore year. His life was in ruin, coming back from a major injury and no football, so he leaned on God. The following year he worked out and got back on the team, but only as a backup fullback. Kendra would play out his remaining years as a backup with no hope of ever having a career in the NFL.

After graduating FSU Kendra signed on as a free agent with the Indy Colts, where he failed to make the team during camp. Following his removal from the Colts he announced his retirement from football.

Today Dan Kendra ia a member of the United States Navy Seals. Today Kendra like Tillman is a bigger hero than any overpaid winny black football player. While the black football player sits with his hoes and drugs, Dan Kendra is defending America.

Dan Kendra was asked what was the thing he most loved about his years playing college football? Kendra's answer, "It was the time in my life when I first met my Lord Jesus Christ".

I had a chance to meet and get to know Dan when I invited him to talk to the youth group at our church. I tell you that Dan is truely a real Christian and a real American.Edited by: azguy

What an inspiring post, AZguy. Pat Tillman will always be a hero of mine. What courage, what character. Dan Kendra sounds like the same.

Interesting to know about Kendra.

By the way, the word is Christian. If it were just a typo, I wouldn't
be a dick and point it out. But three times? I don't want you out
there looking as dumb as the black football players you so
loathe.Edited by: GreatLakeState

It's interesting that Bobby Bowden couldn't use Dan Kendra on his football team while the U.S. Navy Seals were glad to have him.

The military loves to put white warriors on the frontline. That always gives us the best chance to win the war. These same white warriors are not allowed to steal the thunder away from blacks on the the gridiron.Check out the color of the combat arms Infantry,Rangers,Airborne,Seals,Green Berets,Recon Marines. You'll find them very white. The blacks are cooks and bakers.
