Yes, we need moar baseball talk on CF!! One of the problems is that baseball is more local then football. It's easier to track football that has almost all it's games on one day then baseball which has a bunch everyday.
The Los Angelino Dojers are playing the Detroilet Tigres with nary an american in sight. The Tigres have Ian Kinsler. Nick Castellanos and JD Martinez, not to mention Alex Avilla are US born players that are hispanic only in the eyes of the media, they could have played for Detroit in 1946 without a problem. It looks like the Dodgers have Andre Ethier and catcher AJ Ellis and little else although 1B Andre Gonzalez is a very light skinned guy from LA and probably is much like JD Martinez and Avilla.
These two teams might (might) meet in the World Series, they certainly have the pitching for it. Another West Coast team, the A's are playing better then anybody although the Tigers swept them in Detroit last week. And the Giants are right behind the Dodgers and always dangerous. The Tigers have won the first two of their current 3 game set with LA.
Another dangerous West coast team is the Angels a team I'd like to see have some success, unfortunately they play in the same division as the A's.
If Im not mistaken Kinsler is Jewish.
The AL will be a nice battle between the Tigers, A's, and Angles. Those seem to be the 3 teams a notch above the rest, but the O's should win the East and might be a tough out if they can get pitching help.
I will definitely be rooting for the Angles and Mike Trout in the playoffs.
Over in the NL, there has not been a team that seems to have stood out as an absolute contender. Washington was a big favorite before the season started, but they are just now starting to get in gear. Milwaukee has produced a solid record to this point, but there are questions about whether or not they can hold off St. Louis. I will talk more about Milwaukee in a bit. Over in the West, LA and San Francisco certainly seem like playoff caliber teams, but neither would be considered a lock at this point. If I had to guess I say Washington, St. Louis, SF, and LA make the playoffs while one other team from the Central takes the other wild card spot that LA/SF leaves.
As for Milwaukee, I have a hard time rooting for them to win anything. They have Gomez who "advances the game" according to most in the MSM. One of the things I always loved about baseball was how it was more or less a gentleman's game in the sense that certain "look at me" behaviors we not tolerated. Teams policed this themselves until recent years. Slowly the attacks on baseball's unwritten rules have become popular opinion it seems, thanks largely of course to the MSM. I can do without the bat flips, goofy antics, and showing up the opponent that is so common place in the NBA and NFL.
Not only is Carlos Gomez one of MLB's worst offenders with this type of nonsense, but Milwaukee also has Ryan Braun. I have no issues with a player using PED's. Im sure there are a lot who still do. My biggest issue with Braun was how cowardly he acted when he got caught, specifically how he basically ruined that sample collector's life by calling him a liar and dragging him through the mud. Braun could have been a man and just accepted the consequences of his actions when he got caught.
I think St. Louis likely catches Milwaukee for the division title, but not just because I do not care for Gomez and Braun.
I do not care for Pittsburgh either. I hope that team does not start winning again. That town has a ton of DWF's who are obsessed with Andrew McCutchen who won the affirmative action MVP over the Arizona 1B last season. Ive seen DWF's in their stands raising their arms and bowing towards McCutchen in the "we are not worthy" motion. They also have Harrison who the DWF's there affectionately refer to as "J-Hay". I guess they don't get enough negro worship during football season in Pittsburgh.
