Report: Ortiz not sure if he took steroids

This story was a blip on the media radar but it was kind of suspicious. A player quoted as saying he was not sure if he ever used steroids. Sounds like what Bonds or Sheffield say AFTER they have been linked. Ortiz may have something to hide.

I expect the next news item to appear.

(special to castefootball) BALCO founder Victor Comte vehemently denies supplying Red Sox slugger David "Papi" Ortiz with any performance enhancing substances. "Definitely not!" he tells us, "there is no way anything that I have ever developed could possibly leave an athlete in such poor shape as Ortiz!"

Another steroid supplier Vito "Pecs" Sargosussi tells us, "Hey look guys, I'm a legitimate black market dealer in illegal performance enhancing substances. There is no way that you can link me or any of my 'stuff' to that fat pig!" He goes on to say: "Guys take steroids to get muscular and buff, having that bloated cow Ortiz as a represetative of our products will kill the business!"

Ortiz the former MVP is the DH for the Red Sox. He is a high performance athlete that has to put in about 1 minute 45 seconds of actual playing time, half of that if you don't count the time he is out of the batters box adjusting his jock.

Ortiz may have "unwittlingly" taken some kind of performance enhancing substances while in his native Dominican Republic. "Hey mon'" he says, "we takes what ever the old lady gives us. Sometimes it is vitamans, sometimes it is flaxseed oil, sometimes it is voodoo juice, we never know what dat stuff is so we just take it. Make you feel good though. Yeah!"

Major league baseball was contacted for comments concerning Otiz and any use of steroids, they would not comment officially but were heard to laugh uncontrollably.

SANTO DOMINGO.- In the two years since tests for steroids and penalties in baseball's Major and minor leagues were implemented, of the 302 players who have failed to date 175 are Dominican, 57.9%.
This week Tampa Bay Davil Rays reliever Juan Salas became the first player to fail the test this year, becoming one of the 8 veteran players suspended.
Of the 12 who tested positive in the minors, 4 (33%) are Dominican.
"I don't know what's happening," said to the reliever Alberto Reyes to the newspaper Tampa Bay Times. "That makes us look badly, what seems is that many of the young people who are using it are Latino. But they will learn from this"
"What I can tell you is that, obviously, the main reason why the Latinos test positive is the lack of information," said Ronaldo Peralta, a Major Leagues representative in the country to ESPN in a recent interview. He said the players "aren't doing this intentionally" and agreed with Reyes, but also cited a lack of education of the Latino players.
