Australian Open

It wasn't much more than a practice session for Federer. Tsonga had what looked to be his "C" game at best for the match. Roger was never pressured, never came close to losing his serve. No drama, kind of a downer of a match, but ideal for Federer in preparation for the final.

Fed's interview with Jim Courier after the Tsonga smackdown was quite good. One thing that will always make you popular in Australia is to make fun of British athletes and sports teams. Federer talking about Andy Murray trying to be the first Brit grand slam winner in ages. The crowd certainly found it funny:

I really, really enjoyed that.

Go figure. Jim Courier is working for what I guess is Australian TV and Aussie Darren Cahill is working on ESPN broadcast here in the States. I guess that is a fair exchange.

Sheesh! That's the luckiest 2nd serve I've ever seen!

Serena just won!

Brave fight though by Henin!

The women's field is so shallow expect the Williams' to dominate for another 2 years. Unless Sharapova gets her act together.

So Serenroid rage won. I understand that after she lost the second set she had to go to the lockeroom to re-tuck her penis under her undergarments, take a stimulant, and drink of glass freshly squeezed testosterone.

I apologize to everyone in advance, but estrogen doesn't produce this picture (unless you are talking about the thing in red shorts):

KP actually that last photo looks ok!

For a black girl on PEDs!

Serena is, as Martina Hingis said of Amelie Mauresmo, "half a man," maybe moredespite her gargantuan mammary glands. Still, she could have easily lost any of her final three matches in the tournament. She is very tough mentally, but "amazingly" there is never any speculation in the media about PEDs. Hopefully her days of domination are close to being over; Venus is only still a real threat at Wimbledon.

Henin made too many unforced errors, which can be attributed to this being just her second tournament back since her retirement. She also failed to take advantage of any of the service breaks she had on Williams' serve in the first set (though she lost a break due to a mistaken call by one of the linesmen). Her serve placement was too predictable and she made too many double faults.

That said, she played a very good match that she could have won had the breaks gone differently. She should be very competitive the rest of the year.

Holy mule squeeze!"Steroidena" looks like a experiment from Dr.Frankenstein's lab...part "afflete", part PEDs, part silverback & part water buffalo!

Brave effort by Andy Murray!

Straight sets. Unbelievable. Certainly one of the greatest athletes of all-time.

Roger is the best tennis player in the world. He also is the greatest of all time. There should be no debate on this. It's not even close!

Awesome tournament for Roger! But it really shouldn't come as a surprise. The only reason we felt Roger might not win any more majors was because of Nadal being the Roger killer. But Nadal is out of action and his healthy future is in question.

Roger never had any problems with any of the other players on tour. It may take a while before the next Roger killer comes along.Edited by: GWTJ

The two Andys - Roddick and Murray - must think they're very unlucky to be peaking at a time when Federer is around. In another era I think they would've won several grand slams each by now.

As a Federer fan, I certainly don't mind as he keeps winning and playing at this peak level. He can probably do it for 2 more years, and 20 GS wins is not out of the question. I still want to see him beat Nadal at a French Open final and also take one more crack at another one of those young guns, Del Potro, in an upcoming final, perhaps the US Open once again.

The good news is, the future of men's Tennis is in solid hands. Murray is young and I'm sure he'll win a GS in the near future. If Nadal can get his health issues together, he could also be around for many years. Then you have guys like Djokovic, Del Potro, Cilic, Roddick, Davydenko, lots of quality players who will keep things interesting for years to come.

Meanwhile, we're privilaged to be watching the greatest tennis player of all time during our lifetime, good stuff!
