Surprised there's no threads on this intimidating beast. This huge guy from Russia can seriously punch hard , possibly the hardest puncher in the heavyweight division right now, 100% KO ratio so far, most KOs coming in the 1st round. Serious prospect. Can't wait to see him step up.

He is an intriguing prospect, he has been shutdown by this pandemic as his promoter is based out of Quebec and all sporting events have been cancelled to severely limited.

I was going put him on the prospects watch list thread.

Yeah he's a beast. I wanna see him fight a top 20 opponent . He's got some flaws but he has the power to KO anyone.

Yikes, thats lethal power on display. You cant even block that without taking damage. A punchers chance against any man to have ever walked the earth.

Interesting, most of the "Russians" in the fight game aren't actually Russian. He's a Kumyk from the Caucus. Nonetheless, that power is undeniable and I'll cheer for him in caste matchups.

It's hardly 'most' when Kovalev, Povetkin, Bivol, Besputin, Vlasov, F Chudinov, Egorov, Papin, Tischenko, Silyagin, Kudryashov, Korobov, Avanesyan, Shishkin, Kuzmin, Fedosov etc are not from that region and neither was Pirog, Lebedev, Drozd, Valuev, Karmazin, Inkin, Gradovich, Troyanovsky etc

It's more like about around 1 in 4 of the countrys best boxers at the moment 25% .

& Those regions are republics of Russia, they represent Russia

True in Boxing not so much..I was thinking Boxing/MMA world combined. 1 in 4 is still pretty high for their population.

No trouble for Makhmudov today. Teper doesn't come out for 2nd round.

Makhmudov is gonna be ducked like the plague I believe. High risk low reward. Hopefully he has a good promoter who concentrates on becoming mandatary with one organisation

Interesting and good that Makhmudov has signed with Top Rank

Also he's high up in WBC rankings, he's now ranked 6th!

tyson fury - champ
1 wilder 2 joyce 3 parker 4 sanchez 5 ruiz 6 makhmudov

if Fury really does retire. Joyce and Parker are already fighting each other, Ruiz has a fight with Ortiz. I'd laugh my ass off if the WBC ordered Wilder vs Makhmudov for the vacant title! I think Wilder would run!

The weigh in was today and both fighters were close in weight with Makhmudov weighing at 263 and change and Takam was 261 and change.

Takam looks like he is the latest PED stack as he is chiseled to say the least it won't help beyond possibly taking a worse beating. https://fightnews.com/makhmudov-takam-weight-in-results/137778

PS this fight is a PPV in Canada and on ESPN+ in the States I may have to watch this on a Russian feed for wait for it to be posted on Youtube. So there will probably be no commentary from me on this fight.

PS2 I saw the fight and the Big M has some work to do before he fights the elite of the division as he was too respectful of the wily veteran.

Makhmudov should have been firing his jab to set up openings but instead waited for openings. He scored two knockdowns one early and Takam rode out the first round and seemed to box on near even terms until late in the fight when Takam exposed his jaw on the ropes after a missed bomb and the giant landed a bomb to his exposed jaw.

The scores were 97-91 and 96-92 twice the scoring seemed about right. If he is to be developed right Makhmudov needs rounds and Derrick Chisora while not as durable as Takam he could present a slight element of danger as he would try to win more than survive.

Interestingly enough Chisora stopped Takam a year or so ago in battle of veteran fringe contenders.

Makhmudov was trying too hard for the KO, as was said above, he should have been working his jab.

But I think going the distance with the crafty veteran (who appeared to be in better shape than he was for his past two fights) will be good for Makhmudov. He needed rounds, not just quick KOs.

This guy has stones for hands! I should say boulders as he wrecks almost everything in his path. Very good prospect but I'm glad to see
he got past his first tough test. When you knockout almost everyone, it can make you a little too cocky & overconfident leaving himself
open to some big punches. Makhmudov is learning, growing and evolving as a fighter!
