Steven Hill is probably the best all-around defender in college basketball today. he's athletic, he's tough, he's strong, and he's a 7-footer. in his first two seasons at Arkansas he's primarily been known for doing this...

it's early in the season, but the Hill'07 version is already drawing rave reviews, especially after blocking 7 shots in each of the Razorbacks first two games, and scoring a career-high 12 points on 6-7 shooting the last time out.

FAYETTEVILLE --Steven Hill's shot-blocking prowess is the most focal part of his game. And for good reason.

The 7-footer had seven blocks in Arkansas' 92-52 season-opening win over Southeast Missouri State and followed that up with seven more blocks against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday night.

Coming into the season, his 152 career blocks rank him third on the Razorbacks' career list.

But Hill has spent a lot of time in the offseason working on his offensive game and the results are starting to show.

Hill scored a career-high 12 points against the Lumberjacks, including a couple of monster dunks.

"This was a great game for Steven Hill. It was his coming out party," Heath said. "He showed some nice moves around the basket. He's a defensive presence. He picked up those two early fouls and had to come out and that allowed (Stephen F. Austin) to cut into our lead."

Hill's defense drew praise from Lumberjacks coach Danny Kaspar.

"Hill is a great shot-blocker," Kaspar said. "We shot well, but inside, he made things tough."
