Are Rams Going Back To LA?

This site (http://losangelesrams.org) is called "Bring Back The Los Angeles Rams." It has been keeping up with developments in St. Louis, which increasingly don't look good.

It appears the NFL now wants a team in Los Angeles again. In recent years teams have been blackmailing their cities in order to get new stadiums by threatening to move to LA.

The dome the St. Louis Rams play in is supposedly already obsolete and the city doesn't have the money for a new stadium. The team is going bad and attendance is low. Will the Rams move back to Los Angeles? It looks to be possible.

The Rams leaving LA to go St. Louis never made any sense beyond the state of Missouri legally bribing the Rams ownership by giving them a sweetheart deal. Now that there is no money in the cookie jar it looks like the new owner of the Rams is seriously looking into moving the team to LA again. He just bought 60 acres in the ghetto (Inglewood) and might have a chance to make his money ten fold if he revives the long downtrodden neighborhood. There are more fried chicken places in Inglewood per square mile than almost anyplace on earth. But we mustn't stereotype.

Interesting twist in LA's NFL soap opera. After losing the Chargers, Rams, & Raiders there've been a series of rumors & near-misses. Remember in the late 90s, the Cards were talking about migrating west, but nobody in LA cared.. and then the Vikings right (?)

In 1978, then Ram owner Carroll Rosenbloom announced the move to Anaheim for 1980. I recall a Jim Murray column about this time. Murray wrote than Rosenbloom's Bel Air friends didn't want to go to the Coliseum any more. One of them had been mugged.

I know the people wanting the Rams to come back want a new stadium downtown close to the Staples Center. The feeling always has been that Anaheim is too far away from the San Fernando Valley.

Kroenke's buying a lot in Inglewood has yet to be explained.

People are reading too much into this, Kroenke is a property developer. He also owns one of the biggest farms in the world located in Wyoming I believe. Does that mean the Rams are moving to Wyoming?

Guess the speculation was reasonable.. Rams moving back to LA next season.

But truth is, I don't think LA cares much. LA's still a Laker town, except when the Lakers are struggling, people temporarily jump on the Clippers band wagon.. There aren't many old time remnants left who are still rooting for the pre-Anaheim Rams. LA still has locals rocking Raiders gear, but I think that's more about nostalgia for the bad ol' days of early 90s LA gangbanging & hip hop culture.. hanging onto silver & black starter jackets.

My point is, this probably won't be a promising development for the cultivation of new NFL fans. LA seems cool w/the Lakers, Dodgers, & USC football. And on the flipside, it's hard to understand the handwringing passion of StL DWFs.. they're losing their temporary hometown felons. It's the nature of contemporary pro sports. The NFL has become pro wrestling. Your good guys can flip overnight, and become heels. It's for-profit theater. Enjoy & analyze the game play, but it's hard to understand getting attached to players solely because they are temporarily on your team (?) Seems like the St Louis area has more significant problems to lament than the loss of an NFL team.. who knows.

It really burns me that St. Louis gets screwed like this, and possibly San Diego and/or Oakland too. What did they do to deserve losing their team? Nothing, unless refusing to waste taxpayer dollars on building a state of the art stadium every 20 years or so is a crime.

The NFL has perfected the art of blackmailing cities, at the expense of the cities' fans. So now eventually St. Louis will build a billion dollar stadium, and either pay the NFL half a billion or so in "expansion fees," or some other ultra-greedy owner will screw over his city and move his team to St. Louis. It's corporate blackmail and it's appalling how virtually no one objects to it, other than the hapless DWFs in the cities that get screwed.

Every franchise in the "too big to fail" NFL is very profitable. There is no legitimate reason to move any of the teams, only greed and more greed.

Agreed, St Louis-area fans did nothing to deserve losing an NFL team. If anything, they were loyal to a fault. That's actually more what I'm addressing.. DWFs who still allow themselves to get jerked around by their 'hometeams', and/or blackmailed for stadium upgrades. Professional team movement is what it is. I think it's a hard reconciliation between fans' emotional love of a team, with an owner's self-interested financial approach to that same team. That's what surprises me, that people still form emotional (at times almost psychotic) attachments to pro teams in an age of hyper free agency, moronic/perverted players, & the ever present prospect of team mobility (minus Green Bay).

I guess my cynical side hopes that these kind of moves, open up peoples' eyes to how grimy our national 'pastimes' have become.., and moves Americans into more meaningful critique of our society in general (& subsequent political activism). Especially an area like St Louis, which had Ferguson on display this summer being destroyed by urban insurgents.. just my opinion.

We can hope, but it seems that the DWF masses obediently take their cues from the "mainstream" media. If the media tells them something is wrong, or right, they believe it. Or, more effectively, relevant points of view that don't follow the party line are simply ignored. But the light bulb does go off in some, and those are the ones we try to reach.

But just as a principle, the days of pro teams switching cities are no longer remotely justified. Revenue streams from national and local TV rights, ticket sales, advertising (much of it free advertising from newspapers, radio and television, which in turn profit from the popularity of pro teams) and other sources make owning a professional sports team very lucrative. Just the constant rising value of the teams alone is reason enough not to move them. Buy a team for say $500 million, wait a few years, and sell it for $1 billion or more. But the unregulated nature of NFL greed is how it works in this country -- the small and medium sized businessman is regulated and taxed to death, while big business is allowed to run roughshod over society.

Rams have lost their mind. First they shafted the city of St Louis to move to Inglewood a black and anchor Baby haven. Now they have cut Long and Laurinitis!!

The Rams go from having fielded a majority White defense a few times several years ago to coal black after these moves. I see Weenieworld cites Pro Football Focus's sinister ratings system to justify the dumping of Laurinitis. PFF has a monopoly on "player ratings," which usually dump big-time on White players; seems to be the equivalent of Rivals & Co. when it comes to rating high school football players. All it takes is one or two highly subjective, anti-White "experts" to come up with bs that justifies the Caste System.

Saints could sign both Long and Laurunitis and it would be a huge upgrade.
