I never did believe in the peak oil theory. I remember hearing that when oil got to be around 60$ a barrel that it would be productive to develop the vast oil sands/tar deposits in Canada. Haven't heard much about that lately. I think that bio fuels are a better alternative but now it turns out, according to who you want to believe, that bio fuels will destroy the rain forest because we would use clear-cutting to grow enough crops for fuel. Why would we have to use land in South America? Isn't there enough available space in the USA (or Europe} to grow enough corn/sugar cane/beets/whatever crop is best suited for fuel? Or is this just a "plan" to milk the consumer as much as possible?
