Succession talk is silly. The parasite never lets the host go, it dies if it does. Think about that and you will see why the amerika will never break up. I think it's more likely that it expands into central and south america not to mention the Caribbean.
Just like the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia would never breakup! The louder they yell the closer the breakup one gets, when they scream "the USA will never breakup" it will be happening!
The parasites won't willing give up the USA and one could argue that when it breaks up the USA will be dead and the new countries will be rising from the carcass. Only money and military power hold the USA together once those are gone it matters not what the parasites want the forces for the USA breaking up are too strong.
Don't know what the true feelings of the people in the North Central region are if they identify with the USA very strongly, they may stay but that would likely lead to them becoming slaves to the corridor. Won't be surprised if the "rump" USA doesn't end up with the entire national debt, the South might point out that you can't place debt on an occupied people and the rest may refuse to pay debts of the USA and how most of the nonwhites will be sent to you after all they are U.S. citizens. But don't wait until the Iron current goes up to flee.
If you think the U.S. Government is bad today just wait until the more conservative areas leave, it will go outright totalitarian. Right now is the time to think and come up with contingency plans.
No matter how much the North believes that the USA won't breakup, it will happen. Be ready to do what is best for your people when the time comes. Cling to past glories will only lead to subjugation.
