All White Super Fight Alvarez Vs Saunders
Alvarez is called a “Mexican”. Mexicans are not a race but a group of people that form a country. Saunders calls himself a “Traveler”. A Traveler is not a race but a life choice. Our eyes do not deceive us, these two fighters are White.
Man vs. Man
Alvarez is less mobile, shorter, slower, has less reach, but has timing, instinct, position, control, torso and head which move like a bobble-toy, and remarkable counter-punching technique which is his most impressive ability. He doesn’t just defend but uses defense as a weapon whereby he makes his opponents miss and counters causing most of his opponents to throw lighter which makes his chin seem even better than it already is. Sometimes his opponents will not throw at all as they are actually hit lighter when Alvarez is on the attack than when he counter-punches. His power is very good but he’s doesn’t have sledgehammer hands like Lemieux or Kovalev. That is, he has a high caliber shot but not a grenade launcher. He is very strong and not easy to tie up, and with his strength he can make opponents expend themselves trying to hold onto him. Well balanced, he is extremely difficult to fake out of position and flank attack. He has lately shown flawless endurance and likes to work at a high, constant pace. Canelo, as he is known, is not a fake, fabricated, pampered star he truly is great.
Saunders is taller, longer, and highly mobile; not only has he fast feet, but he knows the dance steps. With his footwork he has great control of distance and can command the ring by choosing when to fight and when to flee. At his weight he is the quarter mile king. Also fast on the draw, he hasn’t lost a gunfight for he always shoots first. He can punch hard, and also possess a high caliber shot, but prefers to use machine gun combinations rather than be a single-shot sniper. With great endurance, he can scream his ten cylinder engine in any and every round. He can employ a wide range of tactics and punches and commix his tactics with subtle changes to confuse his opponents who wind up weary from his raids. Saunders is somewhat of a braggart but has earned his rank from victories not stories.
How Does Alvarez Do It?
Imagine the ring as a dart board and Alvarez standing in the bulls eye position; everywhere he stands he keeps the bulls eye position. Just as a racer who controls the inside of a corner makes his opponents take the long way around him if they want to pass, a fighter that controls the center of the circle makes his opponents travel longer distances to try to flank him. With the centre position, and always his hands on the trigger ready to counter-shot, and his twisting-turning upper body movement and head, his opponents (except GGG) cannot land without getting hit.
How Does Saunders Do It?
With his sound fundamentals, athleticism, refined technique, and speed, Saunders overwhelms his opponents. Speed is velocity; quickness is reaction: Saunders has both. His opponents cannot match his application of his skills because he is always first and they are trying to react to him. He can take a punch but hasn’t had to take much in his pro career because he defends on his way into attacks. However, he hasn’t fought the likes of Canelo.
The Battle
Set behind a tight guard and confidence of a cat, General Guerrero Canelo maintains the centre circle of the ring never retreating out of it forcing the traveler Saunders to cover more distance from the outside of the circle to try to raid Canelo with a hit and run strategy. The ring is large and the floor tight so Saunders will be able to try blitzkrieg tactics in an attempt to stretch Canelo out and in his efforts to reach for him. The boxer-mover usually has the advantage in the early rounds but General Canelo will adjust to Saunders’ tactics and time Saunders’ assaults with his brilliant counter-attacks. Much will happen beyond the eye of the fan as these two think, react, and adjust faster than fans can see.
The Outcome
The outcome is likely already known to the promoter, the judges, and probably the fighters. Alvarez will not lose in Latino Texas. Hearn, the fight promoter has both fighters in his stable so he cannot lose either. Neither fighter will get seriously hurt. Alvarez cannot be beat on points at this time in his career and certainly not in Latino Texas. Saunders will do well to hit and run and frustrate Alvarez if he can and thus looking good is a win for him. Boxing at this level is more business than sport and I suspect the fight to be judged a draw as a second fight would make more money than this fight which is already “packing them in” while the producers are “raking in” the dollars.
