It must be a sign of the lack of respect that Alex Smith has always received since being the first overall draft pick in 2005 that he doesn't have a thread even here.

Smith lost his job because he suffered a concussion. If success is measured by wins and losses, he was the most successful quarterback in the NFL last year and this year before being replaced by Colin Kaepernick. Reading an AP article on his demotion, it's startling just how good he's been:

The game he got the concussion he was 7 of 8 at the time with a QB rating of 143.8. The week before he had completed 18 of 19 passes with 3 TD throws, setting an NFL record with his completion percentage and was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Smith currently ranks fifth in the league in passer rating with 104.1, and his 70% completion percentage leads the league.

He's 21-6-1 in his last 28 games as a starter, and led the 49ers to the NFC championship game last year when virtually no one thought the 49ers would even make the playoffs. He was spectacular in the playoff win against the Saints, about as good a performance by a quarterback in a big game as I've ever seen.

As I mentioned in another thread, I'm hoping this move backfires big time on Jim Harbaugh, who's been a huge disappointment from a CF perspective since featuring Toby Gerhart while coaching Stanford. Harbaugh reminds me of a White version of the buffoonish Mike Singletary albeit smarter, saying and doing many dubious things in addition to being manic and almost psycho looking at times. He denied the 49ers were wooing Peyton Manning when of course they had; when announcing his choice at quarterback he said Kaepernick is the starter but so is Smith; the infamous overly aggressive handshake with Jim Schwartz, etc.

Unless Kaepernick truly is a very good quarterback right from the get-go, he's likely to have some bad games and make stupid mistakes that Smith wouldn't make. (Smith was the most error-free QB in the league, partly because he's not a big down the field passer, but also because he's quite intelligent.)

The benching of Smith could mark the beginning of the end of Harbaugh's honeymoon with the media and his almost all-black team. He's easy to ridicule, but because San Francisco keeps winning games he's been pretty much immune from criticism. I'll celebrate the day he's fired.

As I said in another thread, Colin Kaepernick's Wonderlic score is suspect. Initially it was reported that he failed to complete 60% (30/50 questions) of the test, so his score didn't count and then suddenly we're led to believe he scored a 74% on a test he didn't complete 60% of. On the other hand Alex Smith is smart, very smart. He's easily one of the most intelligent QBs in the league.

I'll never understand why 49ers fans think they need a QB that has "huge" arm strength either. The 49ers won all their Super Bowls with QBs that had average arm strength. They were always a finesse team, so when 49ers "fans" insult Alex Smith's short passes they're by extension insulting two of the greatest QBs of all time.

Gentlemen, As an older man, I don't ever remember suicide to the extent it is in the last 4-5 yrs or so. Here at the Jersey Shore, it comes in spurts. Actually, we're due for another spurt right about now. In our own case, it's usually younger men, teens to early twenties (some women too, but not as many). They walk out in front of the train at night.

My own take is years ago, many people died in infancy because of many reasons. But with all the gadgets and everything we have today, many times these otherwise defective people live on past their time. But at some point, their defect come to the surface and the person snaps and kills themselves, and others as in this particular case, and the case out in Caspar Wyoming the other day.

Wrong thread, though it must be said that usually suicidal people are very intelligent. I remember reading once that William Shockley considered suicide.
Suicide requires the ability to be introspective, something most black people lack.

Walter from WalterFootball is a white, late-20's Penn State grad who is apparently getting by with his domain's ad traffic and by cross-posting content with other "semi-pro" sports journalists. His guest writers are serious, but he himself often opts for a more Seth MacFarlane brand of humor. I always took that as a sign that Walter's goal is to get hired by a bigger, "hip" brand by establishing a distinct personality, a la Drew Magary or Bill Simmons.

While I am convinced that Walter believes what he writes, he doesn't have much by way of inside access to form his scouting opinions. His appraisal of Kaepernick is therefore surely tinged by the media spin. One of Walter's weekly features is his gambling column, where he shares his predictions and rationale. If he won a couple of bets on the Niners against a bearish line, that's something that will influence his positive assessment of Kaepernick, if only subconsciously. Of course, by that faulty logic, quarterbacks would not be judged by their winning percentage but rather their winning percentage against the spread.

Walter has backed Tim Tebow as a starter since the preseason and blasted Michael Vick at every possible opportunity (for the dog-killing). However, he also piles on Wes Welker, his reigning "Most Overrated Player" in the league. I would say that his site is a reflection of the mainstream caste system rather than an insidious proponent. That said, his window to "wake up" is closing fast, and his site does get a lot of traffic.

Smith is a very good and successful QB. His demotion is pure racism. We should use stats such as the above to try to make whites aware of the blatant bigotry white players are subjected to.

Kaepernick gives the 49ers so much more upside than Alex Smith.

There's that word "upside again." Now the racists are applying it to entire teams.

Upside means "He doesn't play as well as a white player but will play better in the future because no white player could possibly play better than a black player because that would be racist."

Thats absolutely correct sir. In my heart, and mind the treatment of Alex Smith is one of the most infuriating examples of the anti white caste system. Certainly when the old reverse the races scenario is applied to this situation its obvious that the media outcry would be loud, and violent. Im sure some talking head, or sports writer would throw out the claim of racism.

Weenieworld strikes yet again!

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the 49ers will first try to trade Alex Smith before releasing him. This coincides with what the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported on Monday. Rapoport adds that the Niners will act fast, though, as they want to work with Smith and get him in the best possible situation. Rapoport reports the Bills, Cardinals, and "maybe" Eagles have shown interest. He also believes the Chiefs "figure to be in mix." CBS Cleveland reports Smith is expected to have interest in the Browns. Smith could probably net San Francisco a mid-round pick, but he won't be anything more than a stop-gap wherever he goes.

With Alex Smith as quarterback the Niners might not have been down 17 to nothing. Even though the Niners have done well in the playoffs, they would have done even better with Smith.

After Colin Kaepernick choked in the Super Bowl one might expect a lot of criticism of him. A general review of the media shows that this isn't happening. Most members of the media are, of course, black supremacists, so they would never criticize Kaepernick. Most delusional white fans are black supremacists as well. They would never criticize a black male under any circumstances.

Most sports media members would never initiate any discussion of whether Smith would have been more successful in the Super Bowl than Kaepernick. The idea that a white man might have done a better job than a black male is contrary to their black supremacist, anti-white man beliefs. The DWFs follow suit. They wouldn't dream of even discussing whether or not Smith might have done a better job.

We should try to start discussions with fellow whites on whether or not Kaepernick choked and whether or not Smith would have done a better job. At least get them thinking.

I'm of the opinion that Alex Smith would have won the super bowl for the 49ers. Kaepernicks play, while good at times, was very erratic and he was unable to come up in the clutch. The 49ers will regret the day they jettison Smith the moment Kaepernick falls back down to earth and they realize he's nothing more than Kordell Stewart 2.0

The Colin Kaepernick decision didn’t pay off – The 49ers were already a Super Bowl-caliber team with Alex Smith at quarterback. Fans and coach Jim Harbaugh marveled at his athleticism. But at the end of the day he was really no better a passer than Alex Smith and probably a worse passer in the biggest game of the year.

Kaepernick put up decent but not great numbers (91.7 rating) in the Super Bowl. But he struggled badly early in the game as the Ravens raced out to an early lead and he bumbled through the final potential game-winning drive.

The decision to play Kaepernick ahead of Smith was validated only if the 49ers won the Super Bowl. The 49ers lost the Super Bowl.

Nice to see an analyst tell it like it is.

Yeah, how you going to expect some kid with a few games experience to come in and win a close Super Bowl. If it wasn't for the momentum draining delay it might have been a blow out. And you need a steady hand to go down and score in that situation. Not an unproven commodity. Harbaugh cost his team the Super Bowl win with that mid season move.

But in fairness to Krapernick it must be said he has played well a lot of the time so far.
