12 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT, 1 FF. Against #2 Texas not some chump mid-major. Now that is one hell of a stat line. I really think Hawk will be a top 10 pick in the draft next year and perhaps a top 5; depending on how he does at the combine. Hawk will probably win defensive player of the year as well. It seems like the NFL scouts have forgotten he is white.

those kinds of numbers are INCREDIBLY impressive and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he were to win the Defensive POY (i did put him on my 1st team All-American list, after all

), but when it comes to the NFL draft it doesn't seem like production matters very much.

much more often you see guys who are "workout freaks" who show impressive sprinting and jumping ability at the combine move WAY up the board, regardless of their playmaking ability. coaches and GMs usually feel that they can "coach up" a special physical specimen into becoming a good player. often they fail miserably, but much like with the prevalence of black "studs" in the draft every year that end up sucking donkey balls, coaches and GMs never seem to learn from their mistakes.

the only way Hawk will be drafted that high is if he has a really fast 40 and good bench reps, rather than the other way around where production matters more and then size/speed stuff comes in second.

Hawk really played well against Texas. I like him very much. The Longhorns will also face Kansas' LBs which are pretty good, and I think they are all-white as well.

Hawk did rip off a 4.51 40 at OSU's senior day last year and it left quite an impression among the scouts in attendance there. I think he has a great vertical as well having been a pretty good bball player in high school.

The funny thing was that he was hurt his Senior year in HS and only recruited by PSU and OSU.

Hawk reminds me alot of Kevin Green who used to play for the Steelers. One of the best sack artists to ever play the game and a good run stopper.I love seeing Hawk pursue a guy with his hair flying in the wind. You know that the running backs & qb's are saying,Oh s***! lol.

Hry Joe V Hawk was the second last player in his 2002 recruiting class to get an offer. Troy Smith was last.

Hawk is currently running 4th in collegefootballnews.com's top 10 player race. the rest of the top 5 looks like this:
1. Leinart
2. Bush
3. Young
5. Brady Quinn (surprise, surprise, deservingly so)

Mike Haas is on the list for close to making the top 10. even though he should be in it.

Kiper has rated Hawk as the #2 prospect(behind Leinart) in his lastest big board compliation. This is amazing as usually only white QBs are allowed to be ranked this high. I think it would be great if Hawk were to be a top 5 pick just like that other Ohio St LB back in the day Tom Couisinou.

Hawk perhaps just sealed the deal for the Butkus Award and Defensive player of the year honors. Against top 25 Northwestern today Hawk had 8 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, and a TD. Talk about going out on a strong note for your last collegiate home game in the 'Shoe.

i wonder what team will have a privilege of drafting this guy... he should be top 5 pick without any doubt...

I liked what Gary Danielson said about how Hawk would look good in a Browns uniform. I am partial to Eric Winston looking good in a Browns uniform also though, so I am slightly up in the air on this one. Although, Hawk would be the most popular player the Browns ever had if they do draft him.

Looks like I was right. AJ was a top 5 pick. lol
Next stop Hawaii for the Pro Bowl.
