Adam Sandler- Ridiculous

I don't plan on seeing the remake of "The Longest Yard," but I have
seen plenty of those promo commercials for it. Would someone please
explain to me how Hollywood has the nerve to cast a short, chubby,
out-of-shape nerd like Adam Sandler as some kind of football star?
Sandler must have really been picked on in high school, because he
obviously has a stipulation that every movie he acts in must portray
him as some kind of "tough guy." As far as I know, he has punched out
somebody in every movie he's made, and now he will apparently get the
best of much bigger men, many of them ex-NFL players, on the football
field. I saw a brief clip of Michael Irvin (whom I guess is one of
those ex-players in the movie) telling an interviewer that "Adam can
play." Uh... sure. If some uncoordinated little white guy can play
football against ex-NFL stars, then why can't Cade McNown, Luke Staley
and countless others?

Pathetic remake of another once -good movie.

If you caught any of the details in the previews, there is one scene in
which the inmates are complaining about the lack of 'brothers' on the
playing field, segue into a recruiting scene.

In another ridiculous scene, the inmates are charging down the
field, on what appears to be a kickoff, and two of
the inmates jump into the air in a double-leg kick, taking out
two guards apiece.

Of course the guard's uniforms are reminiscent of WW II Nazi uniforms as well.

What's next, a remake of "Deliverance?"

The latest in a long run of movies that didn't need to be remade. Apparently the only idea the Hollywood writers can pull out of their arses is, "Hey, let's remake the movie but put a BLACK guy in it."

The most odious example of this is that remake of "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner". In the original, the Black race was represented by the dignified and intelligent Sidney Poitier. In the remake, the White race is represented by Ashton Kutcher. 'Nuff said.

These types of movies are easy money makers, too, besides showcasing the new racial order. Hollywood loves remakes and sequels, and also making movies out of popular old TV shows -- The Beverly Hillbillies, The Brady Bunch, Charlie's Angels, The Mod Squad, ad infinitum. The newest one of those coming out is The Honeymooners -- with an all-black cast. Such blasphemy, yet no one in the "mainstream" will dare utter a peep of protest.

jax: I'm no fan of race-mixing, but that's one hypothetical where I'm not sure which side I'd come down on...okay, okay probably Ashton, and just hope my grandkids get their momma's brains.

Seriously though, the original guess who's coming to dinner portrayed a black man in a very positive light, which doesn't bother me at all. The remake portrays a white kid as a rather wimpy enfeminate fool, a telling contrast IMO. The fact that said image is repeated ad nauseum in the media doesn't help matters.

It's about like the remake of the Dukes of Hazzard, but I'll save that for another thread. The racial and pc order is definitely visible.

Ha! I was waiting for this because I heard what Chris Rock said.. "sigh" I don't even know where to begin with this because I see more and more "PC" remakes poping up.

Show'em you don't like it, by not bothering showing up to the movies. But I don't have to tell you guy's that do I.

Of course, I expect the glorification of blacks in any product coming
out ot Hollywood. However, what I don't understand is the casting here
of Adam Sandler. How can anyone, even the incredibly stupid average
American citizen, buy this extreme non-athlete as any kind of football
player?

How about when John Goodman was cast as Babe Ruth a few years back? Most white Americans uncritically accept anything and everything that comes from the media. Even H. L. Mencken would be amazed at the ignorance and stupidity of Americans today.

Sandler shouldn't even be in the movies, let alone playing a QB. Adam Sandler is the personification of almost everything I dislike about modern America. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

According to the late Johnnie Cochran's memoirs, Hollywood had been trying for years to cast a white guy for the lead rolein 'The Chubby Checker Story' but gave up after spending millionsin talent searches. Johnnie said, 'Aint no cracka no where, who haveda black man's hiptitudinal swivelocity for twistological movement.'

Speedster, You're right about Don King, I can imagine him saying those exact words. Wasn't the black lawyer on Seinfeld patterned after Cochran? He finally spilled the beans.

I haven't liked him since he left SNL, but that's just me. I think Big Daddy was one of the worst movies ever made. I just don't care for the guy's example or the characters he portrays.

I have enjoyed other movies made by Adam Sandler: I just don't
like what I saw in the previews in this remake of the Longest Yard
- white guards reduced to neo-Nazi stereotypes, the propagation
of the myth of black athletic superiority, and the advancement of
hip-hop gangster culture. None of which I recall being overly
present in the original, either.

I said Sandler would not be so anti-white earlier. Well, shows what I know.

This movie showed the several negative white
athlete stereotypes. One of the biggest is that whiltes take
steroids to be athletic. Another one is that all white athletes
are white supremacists. Another one(due to the demographics of
the prison) is that there should be even more black athletes, but there
imprisoned due to the magic liberal code word, RACISM.

Funny how the original showed Burt Renolds, a former
Florida State Running Back. The original showed a real football
player. This one shows Sandler. It is best to look at this
as what Spaceballs is to Starwars.

Just proves the point that most remakes aren't worth the film they are made from. Did anyone see that ESPN show on the bad boys of sports? I didn't, but I'll bet most were white.

Adam Sandler although funny at times,is not and never
will be a good athlete. He is totally wrong for this
part.Hollywood has to change everything.Even Kojak
was a black man in the remake.I suprised they didn't
go and get two more brothers for the Dukes of Hazzard
Movie. They cater and bend over backwards to the point
that it makes me sick. What's next,The Waltons?

They have to explain the Confederate flag on the new Dukes of Hazzard movie to some blacks that Bo and Luke are talking to. From what I know about it, they came very close to leaving it off the car altogether. I'm glad it's on there, in fact I see it as a small victory, but I still won't be going to see it because it will be stupid and nothing when compared to the original. Plus, I'm sure they will leave the question of the flag in a negative light.

I went to see the Longest yard yesterday and it was a great movie much more then what I expected. It was definitly the best football movie Ive ever seen and Adam Sandler played an excellent part in the movie.
