Susan Sarandon, outspoken actress and liberal political activist, thinks the United States should help build schools in Mexico _ not walls along the border.

Visiting a preschool in a slum bordering a vast, municipal garbage dump in Tijuana, Sarandon said education was the key to improving lives in Mexico. She criticized a U.S. congressional proposal to extend walls along the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border.
What a dumb bitch! Edited by: Deacon

Sarandon is not poor. She should give all her money to the Mexican government to build schools.

BTW, Mexico is the tenthnwealthiest nation in the world. Why can't they aford good schools? is it the corrupt government or the dumb students?

If they are the 10th wealthiest nation in the world, its only because of all the money they're siphoning off the U.S. economy and sending home to mamacita in la casita.

Gee, our gov't hasn't even cleaned up New Orleans, why the heck would we throw money at Mexico? Actors/Actress should stick to what they do best, they're not politicians, if they wanted to become politcians they should of done so.

Mexicans as a people are not lazy, look at some of the people who work the fields, I would never do that. The problem is government corruption and drug money. She might have a point (somewhat) that if we helped with building some schools in Mexico, that the Mexican children wouldn't need to come north to get a decent education. Thusly, letting Mexicans earn money in Mexico and keeping them out of the US.

It's a nice thought that if we just threw a little money at them and told them to go to school that their problems would disappear. But hold it; we already do that with minority populations right here in the United States and it generally doesn't work. Ultimately, people have to be responsible for their own advancement. We should feel no obligation at all to help Mexico out - just keep them out our country and make them build their own civilization.

Mexican children do not come here for an education. They don't go to school here either. Their drop out rates are notoriously high.

But if buiding schools in Mexico kept them out of here, I would be all for it. But I agree with Kaptain that it wouldn't do the trick. What we really need is 30-40,000 troops on the border, to find as many of the 6+ million illegals who have overstayed their visas as possible and deport them, workplace verification/ employer sanctions, and take all the green cards and work visas and make a bonfire. That'll do it. Edited by: JD074

In per capita income, Mexico ranks anywhere from 44th to 72nd, depending on the source. Edited by: Don Wassall

These hollywood people often go from rags to riches. They barely get by and are looking for roles that have small pays. Then one day, they get their big breaks.

They never know what it's like to be a regular tax paying worker that works every day at a steady job.

That's why they're so darn stupid.Edited by: Freedom

I don't much like the government building and financing schools here, much less Mexico!

It really would be one of the all time stupid things to do, for one country to educate the kids of another country. But Sarandon must realize that. She says things to shock. Ultra-liberals like to shock with people with their stupid ideas. Makes their lesser, but still bad ideas look better by comparison.

What Sarandon should have said was: "Americans should grind their kids into hamburger and feed them to the poor children of Mexico so they can get some protein."

Then the paying of education for their little brats would look better by comparison.
