A;s need to be diverse

In the Headlines section of this site, a writer is concernedover the lack of diversity on the Oakland A's baseball team. Apparently there are no blacks on the roster. Why is that a problem or bad thing? Our Olympic (losers) Basketball team was jet black, nowhite players were deemed worthy to play.Was the media concerned whenthatteam hadonly blacks ontheroster, without a single white? No one wasupset about alienating the white majority of this country.

Having several black players wouldn't by itself make them better, but having zero surely runs the risk of backlash. I think there are writers out there who specifically look for situations just like this one so they can be the first to point out the need for "diversity." This will score big points in their little group of iconoclastic journalist friends. Their subjects will fawn over how right-on they are to point out this horrible vestige of racism in modern America. Their egos inflate further, if thats possible, amid all the politically-correct kudos and attaboys they will receive for merely noticing that, 'hey, they aren't any black men on that team.'

They got rid of Mulder & Hudson. Bobby Crosby has been hurt and Eric Chavez is having an off year. So, they are not without their problems. heh

Bart is right. Our society is full of such double standards. In our 'modern/enlightened' society, it is absolutely imperative that everyone stop what they're doing and make sure the blacks/hispanics/jews/ muslims/indians/buddhists/homosexuals/transvestites/lesbians and anyone else who isn't 1)white and 2)male (prefferably christian heritage) are noticed, helped, funded and satisfied. However, no body must ever think twice (for that matter, even once is too much) about what the white men would like.

Democracy? Socrates would be rolling in his grave if he knew of the hypocrisy of American democracy.
