There's a little controversy now because, Captain Tom Watson decided to go with Mickelson and Bradley in the afternoon session, instead of Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth.

USA loses another Ryder Cup 16.5 to 11.5. However, there were some bright spots. Patrick Reed went undefeated in his rookie effort, 3-0-1 and Jordan Spieth also played well as a rookie, going 2-1-1.

There seems to be some controversy brewing between Captain Tom Watson and Phil Mickelson. Phil making comments in post Cup media room saying the team should have been captained in a different manner, like how Paul Azinger did in the USA's last Ryder Cup win.

I guess there's always going to be a lot of blame to go around when you lose. The USA just didn't get the job done.

I think the loss of Jason Dufner, Dustin Johnson, and not getting FED EX Champion Billy Horschel on the team, hurt the US somewhat, but the Europeans played really well and deserved to win.

I like the Ryder Cup. It's different with the match play and team thing which is so much the opposite of a regular golf tournament. However the fake nationalism around it turns me off. Who cares about the USA anymore? And what's the European team? Team EU? It's another example of whites being pitted against each other and using the borders of countries to create divisions.

Yes, I doubt the European players think of themselves of "Team Europe" so much as they have a strong sense of friendship and camraderie, combined with wanting to beat the U.S.

I was watching an interview with Darren Clarke during the event, and he remarked how the Euros typically travel together on the same plane to U.S. events and to events in Europe, and often have dinner together and otherwise socialize with each other. The U.S. players seem to be more like individual corporations who aren't more than superficially close to each other in most cases, much like in U.S. pro team sports, where the athletes quickly disperse and go their own way after practice and games, whereas before they might sit around the locker room drinking a few beers together or go out to dinner, in other words genuinely bonding rather than living today's mercenary existence.

The European players undeniably also lead the life of the rich and famous just like America's super-wealthy athletes, but have kept more of a traditional bond of friendship and that might be a key reason why they keep winning the Ryder Cup despite the talent between the two squads being roughly equal.
