I think it's a mistake. He is risking injury at the end of a very long season for him. I can only think of a few reasons why he would run?

1 To finally win a Diamond League Race and put up a good time to prove he belongs there & get a nice paycheck.

2 For one final try to see if he can get back in shape for a 3rd time to stay entered in the World Athletics Ultimate Champs in a couple of weeks.

3 A third reason is that he may be considering moving and running for a country in Europe? I'm sure he is falling in love with the countries and the people there. Not that Australia isn't also amazing. It would be easier for him to peak there without having to double peak every
season in track.

To peak twice in a year is difficult but Lachie did it. To peak 3 times in 1 year is unheard of. Again I worry for his health as he has a very
long career ahead of him and he came off a major back injury a year ago that almost ended his career.

he may simply be honouring his commitments while enjoying being in Europe. He told in the interviewer after Silesia that he hadn't really been training much since Glasgow .... so very possibly he's been travelling around and it's hard to fit in training everywhere he goes.

I've some fellow masters athletes who've just finished competing in Daegu. When asked if I'd consider it I said to one friend I wouldn't ever spend travelling opportunities and savings (we usually go for some months) to be sat in a stadium watching and doing OP's athletics. Maybe Lachlan's feeling a bit of that now he's been competing 6 months straight

Lachlan Kennedy came in 4th but still ran yet another sub 10 in a time of 9.99 +0.1 on a wet track in lane one! I think this just may convince him to stay in the World Athletics Challenge. If my calculation is right this is is 6th wind legal sub 10 in the last 2 years. Only 1 sub 10 away
from tieing Christophe Lemaitre for the most ever by one of our guys.

Just watched it now on an hour delay. Lachie didn't actually get the fastest start (coleman in the lane next to him got out much quicker) but held his speed well. Good to see speed endurance and another sub-10. A really fantastic season for this legend! Let's pray for no injuries and even more progress over the next two big years.

I was worried he was slowing through fatigue of long season then he re-groups. That's a fighting spirit.
His 9.99 now gives him a top ten average time of 9.97 and he'll get another sub 10 soon to equal Christophe's 7 times under 10.
Notice that those who finished 2nd,3rd,4th were the top 3 Commonwealth placegetters

Amy Hunt 3rd in a Season Best 22.16 in the 200m. Kind of a par performance; was hoping for a new PB or even a first sub-22, but it's been a good long season. See her again in the Ultimate Championships next week.

I was pondering about her increased 100m speed and wonder if the training mix still needs a bit of sorting to break her into the 21s

I'd just like to sing the praises of the (as yet) world's greatest sprinter of non west African African heritage.
Su Bingtian of China broke 10 seconds x 10 times legally over a 6 year period for a top 10 average of 9.95.

I think Kennedy will overtake him but Su certainly deserves a shout out

Well, the 100 is the blue riband event. If there has to be a choice, I'd rather see her succeed in that.

Su Bingtian was nothing short of amazing. What a great career he had. He must be a living legend over there in Asia.

Greatest is debatable. True greats bring their best to the biggest stage. World and Olympic finals. Su Bingtian didn't. In the 2015 World Champs, he ran 9.99 in the semi to qualify for the final, where he could only run 10.06. 2016 Olympics, he went out in the semi in 10.08. 2017 World Champs, he again made the final but disappointed in 10.27 (slower than both his heat and semi times). 2019 world champs, a disappointing 10.23 in his semi. And of course in the 2021 Olympics, the famous 9.83 to win his semi, only to come last of the finishers in the final with 9.98.
