Since 2006, Texas has started 7, 6, 8, 9, 8, 5, 6, 7, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 5, 6, 4, 6. 7, and 6 white players. This year, they are starting 4, tying the all-time program low.
I was surprised that this lineup looks so rough. Head coach Steve Sarkisian might be off the sauce, but he is definitely sipping that anti-white Kool Aid punch.
Arch Manning needs no introduction. He currently has the sixth-best odds to win the Heisman at a distant 26-1 longshot. If that’s off the table, this is a team to root against every week.
From last year’s team, which was considered on par for the “best in SEC,” WR Parker Livingstone transferred to Oklahoma, and TE Jack Endries, DE Ethan Burke, and S Michael Taaffe are in the NFL. Texas did not exactly "reload" to replace them.
Sarkisian bought away Sikorski from Oregon State to play IOL. Masunas contributed at TE last year for Michigan State but has yet to crack a box score through five weeks in his final year of eligibility. Edge/LB Colton Vasek seems to have lost his backup role to a true freshman. TE Spencer Shannon is a nominal starter but consigned to blocking duties. Rocky Cummings is a 4-star true freshman LB but hasn’t seen the field yet.
The Longhorns had seven new starters arrive this year via transfer. With two black backup quarterbacks and almost zero white depth, this team will be even more putrid next year barring some caste-busting portal overhaul. For now, maybe we can see some more funny AI edits of the coach beating up Holly Rowe.
Starters:
QB: Arch Manning
TE: Spencer Shannon
OG: Dylan Sikorski
C: Connor Robertson
Backups:
TE: Michael Masunas
C: Jackson Christian
DE: Colton Vasek
LB: Rocky Cummings
