2026 NFL Week 5

9 tackles for Cole Bishop, but he's been ignored by the announcers except for the dubious pass interference call against him, which was followed by a prolonged perp shot.

Landman leads the Rams with 8 tackles. Those darn overachievers on defense strike again!
One reason why there will never be a 72 Dolphins team again! White Men aren’t allowed on Defense in such numbers!

Injuries, unexpectedly poor performances, and the usual Caste System bs are making this the worst season in many years to this point.

Our top receivers have been wiped out -- Pearsall, Pierce and Bech, with McConkey hobbled to the point of being useless. Kupp gets one or two catches a game. TeSlaa looking like he might be breaking out but his notable recent increase in production is "rewarded" by his snaps being reduced from 82% in Week 4 to just 39% yesterday and not a single reception.

Shipley likely out for a number of weeks if not the rest of the season, and for anyone that thinks Steele will get a genuine opportunity I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. And then there's Skattebo being underused by the dynamic anti-White duo of Harbaugh and The Rodent.

Bo Nix, Justin Herbert and Drake Maye have all been big disappointments thus far though Maye's game yesterday is encouraging. I know, there's always offsetting reasons to explain some of the falloff, but none of us expected what's happened to these top White QBs through five games.

Maxx Crosby has done a disappearing act, same with Herbig, while the injury prone Trey Hendricksen and Nick Bosa have done nothing. Chenal out for the season after finally getting the chance to show how good he is, Watt and Van Ginkel still playing fairly well but not as much as hoped. Even Van Ness has cooled off after a tremendous start.

There's more but that's just off the top of my head. Lots of good tight ends are nice, but everywhere else it's little but disappointment.
I feel this disappointment too but I'm not sure how much worse its been than other recent years. For example, 2020 and 2022 would have been duds if not for Travis Kelce. 23 and 25 only had 2 of our guys get to 1,000 yards.

At the moment, we have Sam LaPorta, Brock Bowers (with 2 less games played) and Trey McBride on pace for a thousand yards. Dalton Kincaid and George Kittle are ever so slightly of pace. So I know its annoying that the WRs are wiped out but our "large wide receivers" are picking up the slack and could land us in a "good year" still.

Regarding RBs, Skat and CMac are both do for a big game and soon hopefully. Even so, Cam is projected for exactly 1,000 yards and CMac right below the mark. If both stay healthy, and Cam gets his fumbling under control, we could have 2 thousand yard RBs in the same season. When was the last time that happened?

On defense, we have more White safeties and cornerbacks then anytime I can remember. We have the top 2 tacklers in the league with Jacob Rodriguez and Alex Singleton. Payton Wilson is right outside the top 5. Looking at sacks we have 5 guys in the top 10 (well top 14 as many are tied for 8th most) -- T.J. Watt, AVG, Zach Allen, Aidan Hutchinson and Mason Graham.

You're starting to remind me of the former poster who called himself Pollyanna :D Just kidding of course and you've stated the "glass half full" position well.

As I mentioned, it feels like we're down to tight ends this season. Some defensive players as always are doing well and the small uptick in safeties along with two starting CBs is a positive. But the wide receivers being wiped out and the unexpected decline of some top White QBs is nothing to cheer about. Skattebo may reach 1,000 yards, but it's just as likely or more so that he'll be demoted by Harbaugh and Nagy at some point. There's already grumbling that the very average Tyrone Tracy be promoted over Cam this week. Shipley being knocked out in the first quarter after finally getting an opportunity was a huge downer.

And it's undeniable that as some premier White QBs are struggling, some black ones are doing better than expected, enough to keep the all-out push for them by the system going as strong as ever.

It's still early in the season and things can certainly improve. Pierce and McConkey should be back at some point, while Maye has found his groove. Hopefully Nix and Herbert will too, but overall, as Jacque mentioned, this season started with more promise than most and it hasn't gone the way we wanted thus far with one major injury after another to some of our favorites.

Also, for TD passes, we have numbers 1,2,3,4 and two of the three tied for 5.

Purdy 13, Cousins 12, Goff 12, Burrow 11, Rodgers 10, Lawrence 10.
