Between 2005 and 2012, UCLA started 7, 7, 9, 10, 8, 4, 8, and 9 white players. No write-ups were done between 2013 and 2015. Between 2016-2019 they started 6, 8, 3, and 4. (2020 season was cancelled). Since 2021, they've started 7, 4, 9, and 6. In 2025 they start 3.

Others to watch: DE Jacob Busic, LB Scott Taylor (4 star), OT Garrison Blank, QB Luke Duncan,TE Jack Pedersen

Starters (3 or 4) depending on Yoon?

RT Garrett Digiorgio
TE Hudson Habermehl

DE Grant Buckey

Busic is Buckey's backup, looks like a non prospect ....Taylor 4 star soph and Blank look good going forward(4 star FR?) .... can Duncan beat out the wildly overpaid Poly?

Thanks to @Truthteller for the assist!

Black head coach and former running back DeShaun Foster is in no hurry to bust any caste stereotypes. He's also not going to bust the "dumb jock" stereotype, if you catch my drift.

According to Duck AI, Iamaleava was earning $2.4 million per year at Tennessee, but "held out" and eventually quit the team because he wanted a raise to $4 million. It seems like he thought he could play hardball right before the season started, but this backfired when Tennessee called his bluff. The richest teams had already gone shopping, and he had to "settle" for UCLA and their $1.2 million/year offer.

I don't think there's anything that backup QB Luke Duncan can do to win the job: whoever paid that $1.2 million didn't do it for a tryout. Just like the pros, these depth charts are determined at the negotiating table, not on the field.

Easy team to root against - it would be funny if they lost every game. They go to Northwestern on Sept 27: maybe the Wildcats can right their ship in a clear "good guys vs bad guys" matchup.
