Caught a bit of the Vols @ Syracuse. I don't think I'll watch either one of these teams much this season, unless I'm tuning in for their opponents. Syracuse is totally unwatchable.
Jeremiah Telander looked good; even had an Int. Prior to looking him up, I thought he was a safety, due to his size, speed, agility and number (22). Came out of High school at 6'2", about 200 lbs (ideal safety size?), but ranked as #11 LB in the nation by ESPN. He's bulked up and listed at 235 lbs, but doesn't look that heavy. Basically, he's been "
stacked" at MLB. Worth tracking, as a draftable,
potential NFL prospect down the road. Worst case scenario, he'll be seen as a Justin Barron type (ex-Syracuse).
Random Comments:
Backups LB
Ben Bolton and DL
Nathan Robinson (RSso) played a lot at Syracuse. Robinson is a 6'6", 300 pound DT. Rare, talented white defensive tackle not moved to offensive tackle. Hope it stays that way. Either way, seems to display some NFL potential.
DE's
Carson Gentle and
Josh Schell (DII transfer) got some time, also. Gentle might be a prospect, eventually. Former baseball pitcher Schell, a Division II transfer**, will likely max-out as a "
high motor", "
fan favorite"at UT. He aimed pretty high in the portal, but might've been better off at a MAC school or a program like Northwestern or Stanford?
LB
Brenden Anes is the son of a fringe Detroit Lions QB, who I vaguely remember (around 2004?). Anes, a true freshman, was highly recruited. He played @Syracuse. Is definitely one to watch.
RS Fresh. Edge
Kellen Lindstrom, a former 4-star recruit who looks the part of an elite athlete, was no where to found. Resembles a young Grant Winstrom, size and body type. I assume he'll be transferring if he continues sit the bench. He's from the Missouri Ozarks and heavily recruited (7 SEC schools offered), but Mizzu is basically an all black program. Kansas State, Iowa State, Iowa and Illinois type schools might be better possibilities, assuming he does not transfer down to a lower rung FCS school.
There are at least 5 or 6 white WR's on the roster. All seem like unrecruited walk-on types, that never play much. Total waste of their time, I think......Except for RSFr.
Braylon Harmon, who was recruited by 10 or 11 (mid-major) FBS schools as well most top FCS schools. I assume he's a preferred walk-on, who might be worth watching going forward.
