2025 Seattle Seahawks

This team got quite the makeover with the new staff relative to the plantation Pete days. Here’s the final 53 as of roster cut day.

This isn’t a phenomenal roster, but still a huge turnaround. I think the only notably weak spot relative to the rest of the league is OL. There are 2 players starting on IR who are destined to return, and some of these guys here are definitely candidates to be replaced (I think Brady Russell and one of the LBs would be first to go to make room) but one of them is 5th round Notre Dame DL Riley Mills who will likely be activated sometime this year.

QB: Sam Darnold and Drew Lock

FB: Robbie Outz and Brady Russell (interesting)

WR: Cooper Kupp and Jake Bobo

TE: AJ Barner, Nick Kallerup, Eric Saubert

OL: Gret Zabel, Jalen Sundell, Bryce Cabledue, Mason Richman

DL: Riley Mills (IR)

S: Ty Okada

LB: Connor O’Toole, Drake Thomas

PS candidates: John Rhys Plumlee (WR) and
Patrick O’Connell (LB)

The first year I can enjoy the Seahawks since Steve Largent, Jim Zorn and Dan Doornink (do your research.)

Nice write-up! Seattle with a surprising 19 total Whites with 5 starters (counting Outz at FB). Certainly a highwater mark for Seattle, maybe since Castefootball has graced the internet....

Also, today they released a black 5th safety so Okada appears to be locked into the backup FS spot!

Maxen Hook signed to hawks PS.

Too bad he’s not active roster, he MAY be activated due to numerous safety injuries.

Good news to see Hook sticking around!

Ty Okada has 17 tackles and .5 sack in a couple starts this season. I hope he can stay injury free and keep racking up some stats! Nice hit here on Tampa RB Rachaad White.

Glad you are back brother!

Yea, what a stick by Ty. I posted this elsewhere but Okada has passed his 2 spot starts with flying colors. I truly believe he’s an NFL starter talent. Unfortunately, I also believe that Seattle actually has 2 good starting safeties, unlike maybe 90% of the league. So either he’s bides his time until one of them moves on or ages out, or gets good tape out there to move to another team as a starter. Of course, in this league most teams will just reflexively dismiss him and discriminate against him.

Good to be back with a cooler head.

He’s looked great! I did see a black guy on X claiming he was solely responsible for Baker’s Big Passing Day! LOL. Never mind the 10 other WGAs on the Defense. Besides that, most would say he’s filled in admirably. More potential than a WSTD!

Thomas’ emergence has been a positive story this season.

Awesome seeing Seattle emerge as must see TV. He was a tackling machine at NC State alongside Payton Wilson. Happy to see him avoiding a racial apprenticeship early on in his career! On pace for close to 100 tackles and 6 sacks!!

As jaque mentioned in the weekly thread, Okada and Thomas played great on defense in the big win on Monday night.

Thomas, who’s officially overtaken Knight as the 2nd starting inside linebacker, had 5 solo tackles (2 for losses) and 3 (!!) passes defensed. What a playmaker!

Okada got a shoutout from Rotowire:

Okada making a case to be the starter moving forward! I hope Julian Love pops his hammy again.

Okada solidified him self as minimum a rotational player. He and Thomas both. They won’t disappear when the “starters” return from injury

Excerpt on Drake Thomas…

The 25 year old has started the past four games at linebacker for Seattle, racking up 25 tackles, five tackles for loss, five passes defended and two sacks during the stretch. He shared the team lead with nine tackles a week ago when the Seahawks went to Jacksonville and beat the then-4-1 Jaguars. And in Monday night’s win against the Houston Texans, he had a team-high three passes defended while adding two tackles for loss.

The Seahawks’ head coach shared what’s stood out about the undersized linebacker Tuesday during The Mike Macdonald Show with Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk.

“Just a determined really good football player,” Macdonald said. “He does things like that a big linebacker does. He has power, he has strike, he tackles, he can cover in space and like press into people – where sometimes guys that are a little shorter, sometimes you worry about that, but he does those things. He does those things through his ability and his anticipation. So yeah, it’s pretty cool. It’s pretty awesome.”
