The Colts of recent seasons have been a pretty standard Caste team, but this year that changes. They've already gotten alot of buzz at CF and had an excellent week 1. Let's take a look at the 2025 Colts shall we.

This might be the Whitest offense in the NFL this year with 8 starters. CF posters will be keeping tabs on them each week!
NY Giants refugee Daniel Jones was signed in the offseason to compete with high 1st round pick and trending towards mega-bust Anthony Richardson. Richardson was the least accurate QB in the NFL last year, completing less than 48% of his passes. In this era, that is simply not going to cut it. He also was the first QB to my knowledge to take himself out of the game without being injured. He simply needed a rest, which shows why you shouldn't have QBs running over and over. Jones comes in as a duel threat himself but is much more of a refined passer. He had 1 very good season with the Giants, leading them to the playoffs and even a 1st round win. The rest of his time there was filled with injuries and disappointing play. We have documented here how during his 5 years in NY, the team surrounded him with a poor O-line and very few offensive weapons. He also had 3 different head coaches in that short period, showing the level of disfunction he had to endure in NY. After winning the starting job rather easily, DJ or Danny Dimes if you prefer, followed it up with a historic regular season debut. That's right, historic. He's the first QB to lead his team to a score in each possession of the game (7). He also broke the franchise's week 1 losing streak. They hadn't won the opener since 2013. I think he's going to be quite popular in Indiana this week. Rookie Riley Leonard of Duke and Notre Dame stardom comes in as the 3rd stringer, but is in good position to eventually move up to backup with Richardson on the outs. Leonard is a winner and another true dual threat who probably needs a few years of refinement before being ready to start somewhere. An interesting piece none the less.
The line is a snowplow for the 3rd year in a row! Ryan Kelly and Will Fries, being the talents that they are, were poached in free agency. In step backups from last year, Tanor Bortolini and Matt Goncalves. The line is anchored by one of the best guard in the NFL, Quenton Nelson. Bernhard Raimann was a top rated tackle last year. Braden Smith is also a quality player. PFF predicts this unit will be top 5 again, while other sites I briefly perused are predicting average. I think they'll remain in the upper tier if today's game was any indication. WR Alec Pierce is coming off his best season as a pro, leading the NFL in yards per catch at 22.3, good for 5 full yards per catch more than the #2 guy! He also totaled 824 yards and 7 TDs. With the proper number of targets, he would be a WR1 and a yearly thousand yard receiver. In week 1 he operated well outside of that in terms of targets. Hopefully that changes. The most exciting offensive weapon in the draft, Tyler Warren, ended up in the perfect spot with the Colts. The Penn State star looks to be this years' Brock Bowers; an NFL ready star TE. He didn't disappoint with 7 catches for 76 yards and the highest rated offensive player (according to PFF) for the Colts. Expect big things and another elite White TE. Will Mallory returns as the other pass catching TE further down the depth chart. University of Ohio WR Coleman Owen had a very good preseason and lurks on the practice squad.
The defense features a "surprise" starter once former Bengals linebacker Joe Bachie won the 2nd spot late in the preseason. A tackling machine and star at Michigan State, Joe never really got a chance to be anything more than a spot starter and WSTD. He was sort of stuck behind Logan Wilson, but the coaches lacked creativity not trying him at SLB or WLB when their defense was pretty putrid every year he was with the club. I guess the Bengals hit their White qu0ta and didn't want to upset the applecart. Anyway, Joe is a good player and tied for the team lead in tackles game 1. Expect another WTM. The other White linebacker is Chad Muma, who was Caste aside by Jacksonville after looking like a potential starter early in his career. He should be very solid depth and was a good signing after cut day. Safety Daniel Scott, is a mostly White looking player, who made the squad because Hunter Wohler was hurt after performing very well. Hopefully this is just a "redshirt" season for Hunter and he comes back strong next year and becomes a rare White safety allowed to excel in this league. Another White safety, Ben Nikkel of Iowa State notoriety, is on the practice squad too so someone within the organization is somewhat fair to White defensive backs.
The Colts will be the premier team in the AFC South and possibly one of the best in the entire AFC for our enjoyment.
