Freethinker
Hall of Famer
The Ron Rivera era ended last season but not all change is good. In steps veteran Caste stooge Dan Quinn, who rose to prominence as defensive coordinator on Pete's Plantation. He had a very black and failed stint as Atlanta Falcons head coach. Then another black adventure leading the Cowboys defense before getting another chance to lead a franchise. Don't expect much from "The Commanders" in coming seasons.

Amazingly an increase of 1 for both overall roster and starters. That came from an increase of tight ends and the drafting of a rare White wideout. Notice however Quinn's immediate impact on the defense. 4 players purged and 1 familiar Quinn player (and mascot) added.
Starting with quarterback, Washington had a good young one that they could have opted to develop in Sam Howell. In his first season starting, he threw for 4,000 yards but unfortunately lead the league in interceptions. However, at only 24 years young this could easily be worked on. Instead Sam was jettisoned to the very dark Seahawks and a super-duper, new shinny "athletic" quarterback was drafted. Jayden Daniels has delivered so far, but like most "super athlete" quarterbacks, he needs to run the ball ALOT to generate that offense. 38 carries through 3 games, and taking some big hits in the process. He's a big boy at a solid 6'-4" but we all know that this playing style is not sustainable long term. If Daniels were to miss time due to injury, in would step veteran Jeff Driskel or rookie Sam Hartman. The signed backup Mariotta is hurt (broken down as well due to his run first style?), so we'd have to see who would get squeezed off the roster if Marcus returns. Now on to the good and exciting news. Washington drafted and is already starting WR Luke McCaffrey. The younger brother off Christian has been discussed here a great deal but its still an interesting path to rehash. Luke started his college career as a dual threat QB at Nebraska. He struggled as a passer but had obvious success rushing the ball. After a transfer to Rice and another season as a middling QB, he finally made the switch to receiver in his 4th year. After leading the team in receiving, he followed that up with a monster final year (992 yards and 13 TDs) that put him on people's draft boards. At 6'-2" Luke has great size and will definitely play on the outside if the CS doesn't prohibit that. Through 3 games he's been solid, catching nearly all of his targets which have been limited due to the quarterback running the ball so much. At TE the fantastic veteran Zach Ertz has been brought in to provide leadership and a reliable outlet for a rookie QB. So far its paid off and Zach continues to add to his lofty career totals (7,500+ yards, 46 TDs and counting). Backing him up are 3 more White athletes. John Bates, who's mostly a blocker followed by 2 fairly interesting rookies. Ben Sinnott was drafted in the 2nd round out of Kansas State so the team obviously has high expectations for him. Learning from Ertz is an ideal situation for the young man. Colson Yankoff made the team as an UDFA out of UCLA. A great overall athlete, Colson played some running back in college and had great yards per carry whenever called upon. The offensive line is up to 4/5ths White. Typically an offensive line with this type of composition has a high level of success. Considering the early 2-1 start and the fact that they dominated the time of possession against the Giants by running the ball, I'd say they are probably pretty good. Looking at some quick ratings websites, it seems that former Chief Nick Allegretti is a standout.
Now on defense, you can tell this is a Dan Quinn lead team. Whether as a defensive coordinator or head coach, he's never been a friend to White defensive players. In fact, it’s amazing that Nick Bellore always finds his way onto this overwhelmingly dark defenses. Nick spent years being a WSTD / mascot on Pete's Plantation, some years with the dark Jets and also had a stint with San Fran. I'm wondering if Bellore has been given some sort of "honorary colored person" title? Maybe he can do a really good "soul brotha" handshake.....
Beyond the active roster, there's no hope of a further White reformation if the practice squad is any sort of indicator. In fact, I predict that 16 & 6 is the highwater mark for any Quinn team and we'll see this team get worse and worse demographically until the inevitable firing of the Drunk White Coach. Much success to LMac but I really don't care for Washington to succeed.
