Since 2006, Texas Tech has started 7, 9, 8, 10, 7, 8, 5, 4, 7, 5, 6, 8, 6, 9, 7, 6, and 6 white players. In 2024 they look to improve to 8.

The depth on this team went down from last year but the starters went up. That being said, the lack of depth on offense outside of OL is pretty concerning moving forward.

Look for a breakout season from QB Behren Morton who has talent through the roof but has had to deal with injuries and horrible OL play the past couple years.
WR Coy Eakin made a ton of big plays last year and looks to have secured a starting spot out wide for 2024. He is a big body-big play kind of receiver (6’2 210) and is only a sophomore. He is looking to build on a 36-416-2 season from last year.
Massive 6’9 TE Mason Tharp should have a solid role in the offense but likely won’t put up big numbers, he did hold off ASU transfer Jalin Conyers for the starting job which is encouraging considering Conyers had 750 yards in his ASU career.

On defense the Red Raiders field two solid ILB’s who fly around the field making plays. LB Ben Roberts was the Big 12 Co-Defensive Freshman of the Year last season racking up over 100 tackles off the bench after Rodriguez went down with injury early.
Keep an eye on EDGE Isaac Smith who showed flashes in the 2022 bowl game as a starter. He missed all of last season and looks to bounce back this year and will see a ton of snaps. He could be a future NFL prospect at 6’6 260 and is very athletic as a former high school track star.
