From 2006 to 2012, New Mexico State started 10, 12, 12, 7, 5, 4, and 6 white players. No write-ups were done in 2013 or 2014. Since 2015, they have started 4, 4, 6, 6 and 6. NMSU sat out the 2020 season. From 2021 to 2023 they started 5, 2 and 4 White athletes. The Aggies are projected to start 5 in 2024.
The initial Ourlads depth chart from last week is missing some positions. I will say there are a few White defensive transfers that could be potentially penciled in as started in DE Kale Edwards and DT Cole Schnettgoecke. Additionally several transfer QBs entered the program - Parked Awad, Santino Marucci and the projected starter Deuce Hogan. Hogan is a former Iowa/Kentucky QB, never got a fair shot while at Iowa so it will be interesting to see if he plays well this year and we can think about what might have been if Ferentz let him play.
Players to look out for include TE Trevor Stephens, LB Jaxon Heil, LB Pierce Humpich.
