Minnesota has had 11, 9, 10, (-), 8, 10, 8, 11, 9, 11, 19, 7, 6, 7, 7, 6, 8, 8, and 10 white starters over the past 20 years. In 2024, they project to start 11.

Going into his eighth season, PJ Fleck has done a commendable job with the Gophers program. It's also refreshing to type so many names into one of these previews.

Since the entire quarterback room transferred, Minnesota will turn to Max Brosmer from New Hampshire, who had two consecutive FCS All-American seasons.

If there is a quibble with this team, it's the dearth at the "skill positions." Tight end Kallerup is a mauler and while listed as the starter, won't likely catch much. Geers started last year's bowl game and caught a touchdown.

Corey Hetherman is the new defensive coordinator, having previously coached linebackers at Rutgers. He hasn't yet had the opportunity to overhaul the roster.

Jack Henderson is safety-sized but called a nickel corner; he's a four-down player. Bryson, Lindenberg, Baranowski, and Striggow all have starting experience.

The Gophers host UNC, Iowa, USC, Maryland, and Penn State and travel to Michigan, UCLA, Illinois, Rutgers, and Wisconsin. That's a tough schedule, but they will have a chance to do some damage in a massive conference while they miss both Ohio State and Oregon. This will be a solid team to cheer for, but don't expect a miracle.

Nice! Curious to see how Brosmer does in his jump up from the FCS. The defense is certainly one of the best from a caste perspective too.

Good looking squad with plenty to cheer for. They open against North Carolina, good caste matchup.

Yes indeed! SIX White Starters of Defense! That is more than Minnesota had back when i was a kid!

Watched Jack Henderson play at FCS SE Louisiana just down the road couple years ago ; could tell immediately he was different!

Wonder how quickly Freshman All American Koi Perich see's the field?? He was impressive in that All Star game!

DB Coleman Bryson had a TD his Freshman year in the Pinstripe Bowl!
