Since 2005, Cal has started 7, 7, 11, 6, 8, 9, 6, 5, 8, 8, 7, 10, 11, 9, 12, 12, 6 and 9 white players. The Golden Bears drop to 6 projected White starters for 2024.
Justin Wilcox has really decimated this team with his most recent recruiting classes and the transfer portal. He brought in two transfer black quarterbacks despite having one of the most promising young QBs in college football in Fernando Mendoza. One of the black quarterbacks has Cal as his 5th college in his 6 year career. Defensive line and defensive backs are all pretty much bare when it comes to White players.
Standout DT Brett Johnson had to retire due to medical issues.
