Since making the jump to FBS in 2015, the Mountaineers have started 9, 6 ,6, 7 ,5, 6, 7, 7, and 4. Some decent depth at skill positions including RB Anderson Castle whose seen a decent bit of action in each of the last few years

Appalachian St. great, Safety and Super Bowl champion Matt Stevens dies at age 51. Most here probably have never heard of Stevens. He was an Appalachian St. All-American and played 8 seasons in the NFL recording a career high 7 interceptions in 1999 with Washington. In 2001 as a member of the Patriots, he recorded 43 tackles and 1 interception and a fumble recovery as New England won its first Super Bowl title.
In 2004 Stevens was inducted into the Appalachian State sports HOF.
In 2007 Stevens was paralyzed from the waist down in a motorcycle accident. Four years later he was able to walk again through the use of special braces.
I'm not sure what caused his death.
I've tried to find some highlights of his career, but have not found any yet. I know there used to be some up, but maybe they've been erased. If someone here could find them, I would appreciate it if you could post them. Maybe from his years with Washington. I think CF would enjoy watching him.

Wow, I either didn't know about Matt's accident or had forgotten about it. Just speculating, but it seems that people that have a catastrophic injury like that tend to have short lifespans. Christopher Reeve died at age 52. Gabe Rivera, the Steelers' first round draft choice in 1983, was paralyzed following a one-car crash his rookie year and died at just 47. RIP
