A one-time CF favorite a decade ago, the 2023 Texans as expected are again a hard-core Caste team. There's not much to get excited for but let's take a look and see just how bad it is:

Number of White starters: 4
Number of White players on 53 man roster: 14
Grade: F

QB: Davis Mills, Case Keenum
FB: Andrew Beck
TE: Dalton Schultz, Teagan Quitoriano
T: Austin Deculus
G: Nick Broeker, Michael Deiter
C: Jarrett Patterson

DT: Kurt Hinish
SLB: Blake Cashman, Jake Hansen

P: Ty Zentner
LS: Jon Weeks

IR: Scott Quessenberry (C), Charlie Heck (T), Killian Zierer (T), Camerson Johnston (P), Jesse Matthews (WR) *part metizo perhaps?

Practice squad: Dalton Keene (TE), Jimmy Morrissey (C), Dieter Eiselen (G), Garret Wallow (LB)

The Texans actually improved by 1 White on the overall roster and in starters. However 1 is a little used human battering ram.

Davis Mills was drafted in the third round out of Stanford in 2021 and thanks to Deshaun Watson’s sexual proclivities had an opportunity to start as a rookie and in 2022. Working with a lousy receiving group other than Brandin Cooks and behind the team’s now traditional poor, sumo-dominated o-line, Mills had his ups and downs. However the flashes of brilliance he showed were not enough, as the Texans stunk badly giving them the opportunity to grab one of the 3 magical black quarterbacks that this draft offered. Now CJ Stroud is thrown straight into the fire, starting week 1 with a lousy team around him. He's going to miss playing at Ohio St where every receiver has been a 1st round pick or is projected to be one.

At TE, Dalton Schultz was brought in as a big FA acquisition. With Stroud likely struggling to adjust to the NFL and having a 4/5ths sumo line "blocking" for him, I would expect Schultz to get alot of targets this year. Week 1 was not a good example of this so let's hope for better going forward. Quitoriano has seemed impressive catching the ball in his brief NFL career.

On defense, Blake Cashman is listed as the starter by Ourlads (usually reliable). However, he didn't accumulate any stats so we'll see if he's been demoted for a guy with 4 Os and 2 apostrophes in his last name. DT Kurt Hinish seems to rotate in. Jake Hansen appears to be a WSTD this year.

The injured reserve and practice squad are littered with 5 offensive lineman. Will the team move away from a sumo line as the year goes on and they likely suck again?

Blake Cashman was the AFC defensive player of the week for week 6. Not bad considering he has to haul that lunchpail around while tackling people.

Wow, Blake flew under our radar apparently as I don't recall his name being discussed in the weekly thread. 15 total tackles (9 solo and 2 for a loss), 2 passes defensed and QB hit. Not too shabby and hopefully this helps entrench himself as a starter. Up to this point, he's been jerked around.

Blake Cashman was interviewed on Jim Rome today. I honestly had to look him up to find out he’s a White starting linebacker and leading tackler on the Texans. Under the radar, for sure.

He’s definitely flown under the radar. He reminds me a bit of Milano(Bills) when he was coming up a few years ago. Out of nowhere a tackling machine emerges! Cashman was explosive at Minnesota in college and had a great combine workout as well.
